I thought she was in the launch show and last week because she had real problems controlling her head movements. But this week it became painfully clear that she had had a skinful before going on stage. Bruno's comment seemed to confirm it. What do other think?

"I'll have what she's having..".yep, thought so last week as well.

She has been drunk on every show.

First show, when she wasn't performing, they did a cut-away "reaction shot" of the other contestants, and Nancy was in the frame. She looked totally pissed.

For her actual performance, given the circumstances it was difficult to tell if she was pissed or just flustered and embarrassed by what a disaster it was. Given my instincts from the night before, I went with pissed.

Haven't seen her tonight, but I'm willing to bet if other people are picking up on it, she's the same way again.

I feel sort of bad for her...

If she is drinking then it wouldn't surprise me if Anton quits - he is very anti booze because of an alcoholic father. (And having had an alcoholic mother I don't blame him one bit.)

Don't be so righteous. One drinking problem is not the same as every other drinking problem. If someone's got one, they need help and support - not rejection and humiliation.

I have thought she seemed drunk every time I have seen her
but I put it down to her being Italian and not understanding the
language properly so gave her the benefit of the doubt. Maybe
that is why Anton seemed a bit disrespectful towards her.
She reminds me of Rosetta on X factor.
If she was drunk I think she will probably be sacked as it is primetime
tele with kids watching.

I think that that letting her appear inebriated IS humiliating and I wonder what the heck the BBC is doing.

Who's being righteous?

My childhood was hell and so was Anton's.

Drunks actually make me anxious.

The BBC reads these threads so maybe Zoe will say something
on It Takes Two.

Support can only be given if a person wants it! I also had an alcoholic parent and Nancy reminds me of her. Not saying Nancy has a drink problem, just concerned there's too many warning signals.

I wish Nancy well & wish her out next week because there are better dancers & nothing to do with alcohol.

You don't get a free pass to humiliate drunks (and support people who humiliate drunks) just because you had bad experiences with one in the past.

If Anton was made so anxious around her that he couldn't function, fine, but the way that comment was phrased was more like he should dump her on principle, or to make a statement.

Don't the BBC have a code of conduct for the people it contracts? I thought I was imagining it the first week, then last week I thought I was right. Tonight I watched her up in the Tess Pit and she seemed to be totally dazed. At one point Anita was looking at at her and seemed quite shocked.

I think you're putting your own spin on my comment there.

(There's nothing to stop Anton faking an injury, nobody has to be 'humiliated'.)

I agree I think something might happen by next week.
It might be in the BBCs interest to cover it up too not to
admit they took on a wrong one.
That's assuming she WAS drunk.

I'm not putting "my spin". Your comment is more than open to the interpretation I gave it.

If you dislike my interpretation perhaps you should take care to be clearer in what you write, so such apparent misinterpretations aren't possible.

I agree. I think your comment was perfectly reasonable. You never at any point suggested that someone should humiliate Nancy. She seems to be doing a great job of that all by herself!

Aleksis,

If she is drinking = if she is drinking - quite clear there.

then it wouldn't surprise me if Anton quits = it wouldn't surprise me if Anton quits - yep, that's what I meant

he is very anti booze because of an alcoholic father = he's tee total because his father was an alcoholic = clear again

(And having had an alcoholic mother I don't blame him one bit.) = Having been anxious every day of my childhood I understand why he is so anti booze.

No mention of righteousness or any wish for humiliation - that was your spin.

Thanks, my mum's life was tragic, I would never wish to humiliate anyone with any sort of drink problem - but I would remove myself from the situation pronto - and Anton is well known for his feelings on the subject so I have immense sympathy for him if he is actually in this situation.

Drunk or not she is going to end up looking even more foolish from her Strictly appearence.

The BBC would get into big trouble if it was found that she was intoxicated during a live Sat night primetime family show (as someone else said).

Obviously the producers cannot monitor the contestants all day on Sat but I do wonder when such an opportunity to have a drink would occur with the busy scheduling on the day. A case of popping off to the toilet and necking one down?

That my interpretation of what you wrote is different from your own does not mean I am "spinning".

Only learnt that about Anton tonight.

Don't understand the logic of him using it as an excuse or opportunity to humiliate her - doesn't make sense given his experience.

Are we expected to believe that he's now projecting his feelings of his alcoholic parents onto Nancy and 'punishing' her?

Someone posted a while back that she locked herself in the loo for 20 minutes before one show, so that may be the case.

I dont think you said anything to merit the accusation at all , . IMO Nancy did her own humiliating all by herself

Okey dokey.

Which bit of my post was 'righteous'? Where did I say (or even imply) that either I (or Anton) were better than people who drink?

Which bit of my post suggested that Nancy should be humiliated?

Which actual words?
