So...........maybe Nancy doesn't want to be plain old Nancy and wants to be Sofia Loren. Only Nancy is appearing as if she is under the influence of something and is trying to carry off Sofia's wonderful, distant, strong woman attitude.

But it's appearing as if Nancy is drunk??? Yeh?

I thought it very pointed the way Bruno referred to the champagne intake - there is obviously a sauce problem”

Did he refer to her "champagne intake" That would be a very serious allegation for a Judge to make. I didnt spot any signs of ketchup at all,

Perhaps his presenting jobs elsewhere have made him forget his role here.”

I agree that he doesn't seem to like working with her (very different to not actually liking her) but I can't honestly say I have seen anything other than his normal witty banter. I don't think it is in his nature to humiliate a partner - he is far too professional for that.

And as for stepping into the background - how the heck can he do that when she is such a liability? Although he did risk her getting up onto the judges desk - I was convinced she was going to fall off!

I can't stand the woman, but as a so-called "maneater", with a full and exciting social life, you would have thought she would be more proficient dancer ?

Yes he did mention champagne. He asked had she had some as she looked as if she had had a couple of buckets full and didn't know what she was doing (or words to that effect).

All in all it was a fiar comment to make I thought!

Nancy! Drunk?!? Lol.

Nah I don't think she was. I think her wobbly dancing was all down to her and her alone. And that intro on the judges table with the unfortunate camera angle was jst..... lol....lol...

Just watched it again and he said something like: champagne, champagne, champagne, have you had your champagne today Nancy because it looks like you had two gallons. He then impersonates her.

There is no doubt he was saying she was the worse for wear.

I'm sure I read somewhere last week that Nancy supplied the champagne for the after show party in week 1. Maybe she had a bottle or two left over in her dressing room?

Whatever the problem I have to watch her entire segment from behind a cushion. I wonder what she's being paid in comparison with the other celebs?

I notice that Wiki has this line about her from 2008

“"Dell'Olio was interviewed on the BBC news analysis programme Newsnight, but, according to interviewer Jeremy Paxman, no one could understand what she said."”

I took it as a joke and not seriously. Bruno didnt accuse her of actually being drunk. Just that she looked it. Goodness if we all took the judges comments seriously they would be sued for slander every week.

Ah yes, that was it, two gallons, not buckets, but same implication!

Try You Tube, it was hilarious. He actually asked her what on earth she was talking about. She just prattled on in her own deluded way.

How does she get away with being a lawyer and supposedly being so intelligent? Trevor Nunn was supposed to have told her she was the smartest woman he had ever met.....unless that was just to get her knickers off?

Well at the time he said it I took it as a joke too, and ROFL. And my original post was simply replying to your question about whether he had actually mentioned her champagne intake. Well he did. Did I say I took it seriously? No.

Well if I had been drinking, I would have been under the table and not on top of it

If he ever did tell her that he may have been referring to her dress sense?!

Wikipedia doesn't seem to have any details of Nancy's career as a lawyer, apart from stating that he she was/is one.

And despite the Beeb's blurb on the launch show, she hasn't actually managed an international football team herself, or written /directed any plays either. It is all very well showing a photo of her with Sven, but if I sat next to Elton John on a bus it wouldn't enable me to play the piano...

I'd assumed that being able to hold her liquor was the minimum requirement for an international socialite...but apparently not. What exactly are her accomplishments that justify her slice of the licence fee?

Sorry, but the image of Elton on a bus has tickled me pink! Good analogy though!

She is an original without a shadow of a ghost of interest in ingratiating herself for gain, at age 50 effortlessly remaining l'enfant terrible . When the time comes to say the emperor has no clothes, the likes of Nancy will be saying it while conformists are terrified into silence.

She knew perfectly well she was not the secondmost famous Italian -- no doubt laughing her head off at the furore. Youtube searched for Nancy Dell'Olio will bring back numerous clips showing Nancy always speaking in the same way, including in the kitchen burning every pan. Marco Pierre White who is known to be frightening with a kitchen knife in hand, was charmed by and very indulgent towards her, as no doubt was (and is?) Sven.

Ann did not try, so as to disguise failure. Nancy was fearless about exposing same and did.
Spoiler
Any way, if next week brings ballroom it will be better, so long as the boa is kept at a safe distance.
