She isn't the first and she won't be the last. Has Sugar kept anyone permanently since the series started? Or have they all left after a year or so?

That's a different matter. I don't think Sugar or the candidates ever expected they should spend a whole career with him. Leaving after a year or so has always been pretty much expected, though I think Simon Ambrose stayed for quite a while.

Hmm I suppose. But a year seems way too short, why not say 5 years? After all, these guys are giving up their daily jobs.

I believe that Tim Campbell, winner of the first series, stayed for four years.

Lord Sugar was on the Chris Moyles show recently and they talked about last year's Young/Junior apprentice.
Lord Alan said that the winner had not had all his money (£25,000) as he only handed parts of the cash out when the winner (sorry, forgotten his name) put in requests for money, effectively purchase orders.
Lord Sugar said he only handed him the money when he was happy with what was being ordered. In this case the winner had ordered some computers and rented office space.
Whilst this may seem a sensible approach, I got the impression that it was a prize of £25,000 albeit one that was to be put towards a business idea.
I find it odd that LS is in such tight control of the prize money.
He seemed to indicate that the winner wouldn't necessarily collect all the money if he didn't spend it wisely??
Again, I think the programme portrayed it as a PRIZE and I think it has been very misleading. I think the same is true for Stella. The PRIZE was not what is was promised to be.

That's fair enough as the prize is funding by Lord Sugar, not just £25,000 to spend as the winner wishes.

Quote:
“The winner will be awarded access to a fund worth £25,000, which will go towards his or her business career and will be personalised to their individual prospects and development.”

Back to the topic, I'd agree Stella has been taken for a ride (though her expectation of being mentored by Lord Sugar seems rather optimistic). But I wondered at the time why on Earth she gave up such a good job and career at a bank to get involved with Sugar's businesses? Mind you, you have to question her attitude too. In the DM article she moans about being given a job under someone "junior" to her. In what way junior? Salarywise maybe, but she was on a special salary level as we know. Perhaps she thought as Apprentice winner she should be reporting directly to his Lordship.

As for her alleged "limited capabilities", mentioned by someone earlier, no way could someone with such limitations make the career change she did at the bank.

the appretinvce is nothing more than a show to get alan sugar in the press for his philanthropic ambitions. i would like to see a new apprentice hosted by someone on the stature of one of the dragons.
