Where did I say that the 4s is higher spec than the G2? What I am saying is, yes the G2 is higher spec than the 4s as seen here but let's compare the 4s to phones that are coming out at around the same time(all of which will blow the 4s out of the water)

My contract is up in May 2012, and I've never bought an iPhone (or any Apple product ever), so will have to consider what's within budget and available that suits my music needs. My heart was set on the Galaxy S2. I don't know anyone who has an SGS2 in order to test the issues myself - drat. Maybe CPW will let me demo....

I'm hoping the stopping of MP3 playback because you lose network signal is a glitch. How would you use it on the Tube / planes etc where there is no signal whatsoever?

Thanks to those who've provided the feedback.”

If you put it in plane mode it solves the stopping issue but then you'll miss calls etc.

Thanks unklesam.

Have just seen few other threads on the Android forum. Pretty shocking that this is happening. Isn't this stuff resolved by a firmware upgrade? I certainly can't get the phone if this is the case; walking around town and having to faff about with restarting the playback.

Surely this must be a bad batch, affecting limited numbers? Rather stick with my Wave in this case.

It's not something I've experienced (or at least noticed), even hoping on and off the London Underground. Definitely check out where the problem lies though if music will be important to you.

Will investigate, but still some time yet. It's a consideration though. Would hope if this did happen, I could get an exchange etc, saying it's not fit for purpose.

I know the Bada OS from Samsung and appearing on their Wave range will never challenge the likes of Android or IOS, but it's rock solid stable and fast too (current premium model anyway).

My fallback might just be the forthcoming Wave 3, which features Bada 2.0 firmware and looks enticing. if it's available here and unlikely to cause me music playback grief, it could be a contender.

Its all relative.

The iPhone and iPod touch are shockingly bad compared to the iPod classic.
Its also why so many adopt the cheap Sansa Clip + as a high quality dedicated music player.

Most phones and even music players have moved to cheap low-fi chipsets. That Sandisk Sansa is one of the exceptions.

Same here, contract is already finished so I've gone PAYG for a few weeks whilst I see what the Nexus Prime looks like, also fancied the Galaxy Note although not sure about a stylus .I did go into a shop at the weekend and handle the S2 and it felt really good tbh and this is from someone who has had Samsung phones and hated them. Looks like we might have to wait longer now for the Nexus announcement although word is that it will still be released in Nov?

Matt, it was widely expected and in no way doubted that the 4S would be the top phone on the market for a limited time, it is the nature of technology. What is true though is that Apple release phones at such a glacial pace in comparison that it's day in the sun is over before you know it......technology wise that is. Of course this does not take into account usability which, if I am to read between the lines of CNETs conclusion, is squarely on the side of iOS because in the main, "most people" mean the people in the street who would never, ever delve under the bonnet. KISS very much comes into play.

Not that I'm knocking it, but it appears to suffer from a very fundamental design flaw...

Seriously though, I actually tried one today. I'd say I have averagely-sized hands and my thumb couldn't reach the furthermost icons without adjusting the phone in my palm.

perhaps its a problem if you're used to a smaller screen, like the author of that report. I certainly don't find it an issue, and am able to reach all corners of the screen one-handed - I've even doubled the thickness of my Galaxy II to fit an extended battery.

Of course, when the iphone 5 comes out with say a 4.5" screen, it will be just the right size.

If that happens, I'll regard it as an excellent design decision!

But that would surely need a new UI as the current one fits the icons on it uniformly across all apple handheld devices.

I was only half-serious but I'm sure Apple wouldn't do anything like that unless it had a practical design reason and even then had thought through all the implications.

if its the same aspect ratio it would work just the same. they might redesign the icons to make it look better at a new resolution but, as Android shows, you don't need a whole new UI just to change the screen size.

But android have been doing that from day one. Everything apple has the same screen size's. Just a thought.

At last I've found someone who agrees with me, I also like the HP beans but can't find them any more.

Back on topic, I am always confused to why people start threads like this, unless you have shares in <insert tech company name here> or work for them and are expecting a sales related bonus, why take pride in one big business selling more of <insert product type here> than another?

I have never experienced this and I listen to music on my phone all the time on the train, when in lifts, underground, lots of places where I would lose and gain signal repeatedly. Not sure what I'm supposed to be Googling, but "galaxy s2 music cutting out signal loss" doesn't give me anything...

And must have the smallest of hands. I've got a HD desire and have no problems using one hand to work the entire screen. Just nit picking if you ask me.

What an absolute numpty that person is and its a load of absolute nonsense!

I can touch all 4 corners with my left thumb while holding it in my left hand.

Yet another apple nut who thinks that the only correct way is the apple way. Absolute plank!

The reason the S2 wins is because it has options. With iOS you have none, its the way it is out of the box or nothing. This might be fine for many, but for me i hate that i cant set the device up the way i like. For me Apple devices are impersonal, almost like they are not even my device, more like they are rented from Apple (and that's certainly how Apple treat you). If you dont like TW, get rid of it. You can even remove it from the ROM if you chose to.

The iPhone isnt about specs, but even if they were the new 4S loses for the most part to the GS2. The CPU is slower. A5 is no match for Exynos. The GPU element is fast though, probably faster in many ways, BUT the Mali-400 in the GS2 is more than capable enough and has better multimedia options, if slightly lower frame rates in some games (its locked to 60 anyway, which it usually maxes out games at).

The camera in the 4S is a big upgrade, but there is little reason to suspect that it will be much better than the excellent camera in the GS2.

The iP4 screen is something i take issue with. High resolution is nice, but its too small and the wrong shape. It letterboxes movies (or worse, crops them), making the image either distorted, reduced, or really small.

With regard to the Nexus Prime, its specs arent that much over the GS2. I see no reason to suspect that the Ti OMAP CPU is faster than Exynos. The GPU is still to be determined. It may have the same one as the iP4S, in which case it will be faster, but will it suffer the same limitations in its multimedia playback? Maybe its an iOS issue. The screen however is better, and is making me think about swapping my GS2.

I absolutely love this phone, the only downside for me is the amount of battery life, it seems to drain a lot and I've always got it on charge but I do have a hell of a lot of apps so that is probably down to the user.

I can't comment on Apple my last phone was a simple Nokia, I am finally in the 21st century and boy am I loving it!!! Thank you Samsung I would now be lost without my ikkle Sami!

Hey I'm female I name things!
