How do I get music on my new ipod?

Hi, apologies for my technological ignorance. I've been given a new ipod (nano 16GB), which I've never had before, and I don't know how to go about getting music on it, without spending a fortune.

I've downloaded iTunes, but I've just read a thread on here saying it's not much good. Is there any simple way to get a few albums on ipod from internet?

Thanks in advance.

iTunes is absolutely fine for putting music onto your iPod.despite what people say,it's the easiest way. People complain about iTunes mainly because Apple try to force it upon us.

OP, do you actually have any MP3s (or other music files) on your PC?
If not, you'll either need to buy some from the internet, or rip (extract) them from some music CDs.

This is as easy as firing up iTunes, and putting the music CD into your PC - rest should happen automatically.

You can also import your music files from your laptop/pc into itunes. Most of my music on my iPod has been downloaded from other sources.

Click on 'file' and then 'add file to library'...maybe you can drag and drop? I have dragged and dropped from itunes to my phone memory card.
