If you take into account the X Factor's normal Christmas #1 takeover, that finishes on the weekend finishing the 11th Dec so the winner's single will be #1 on the 18th.

So according to X Factor the Christmas #1 will be on the 18th December.

But I'm not personally sure

The last time it fell on a Sunday was 2005, when Shane Ward got the Xmas No.1 for 'That's My Goal', so I guess it's whichever single falls No.1 on 25th this year.

Surprised (and glad) X Factor have moved theirs to the week before that.

If the chart cut off is midnight on Saturday then surely it will be whatever is No1 at midnight on the 24th.

Therefore the Christmas No1 would actualy be announced on Christmas Day

How does this normally work when Xmas falls on a Sunday?

Don't they usually count the week before or something?

Don't really know ---------- it it fell any other day of the week No1 would be what ever it was the previous sunday but this is a FULL week as well as probably the biggest selling week of the year

The only reason I can think they wouldn't make the cut off on the 24th is that the people that confirm the figures are all on holiday
