Fed up with the booing

I'm really getting annoyed with the booing from the audience this series. Any comment which is anything less than gushing is greeted by pantomime booing. It wasn't this excessive in older series.

I agree, I want to hear Craig's critique!

Doubtless the Floor Manager encourages them.

It IS very distracting.

Yes, it is annoying but blame the evil Beeb. The audience is simply obeying the floor manager's instructions - boo Craig, standing ovation for every dance (but not you lot in the gallery) and laugh at Brucie's jokes whether they're funny or not.

It's pantomime (oh, no, it isn't...)

I really object to audience booing, as RoseAnne has said: it's not a pantomime! A couple of times at the beginning was amusing to see Craig's face (always amuses me) but now, it's just become ridiculous. The judges can't say anything critical? Isn't that one of the purposes of being a judge? Come on Beeb, put a stop to the booing, it's childish.

Yup, fed up with the booing. Every little critique and you hear one or two idiots booing in the background. Almost as if they were paid to do so.

I've never been in a studio audience but I know for a fact that I wouldn't boo or clap just because some floor manager told me to.

Pathetic.

The floor managers definitely encourage it. Someone posted a story last year about how one of the judges made a comment about the use of props or a lift and the audience were encouraged by a floor manager to boo only to find that they cheered instead

I can't bear the booing in the audience. I hope the BBC spy on here to see that it detracts from the critiques given by the judges. This show is NOT X Factor (thank God).

Just seen this post on last night's chat thread.

Was at last nights recording, the booing is encouraged by the warm up guy. They want the crowd to react to the judges comments be it positive or negative.

Shame us lot up on the balcony couldn't give any standing ovations though

I am. In fact I am not surprised if those who initiate the booing (listen carefully they are always the same voices who started it) we actually those assistant floor managers or those runners for the floor managers.

At every pantomime, it's traditional to "boo!"

Much as I enjoy this show, don't let anyone kid you that it's any more than that.

What a ridiculous thing to say that you can tell its always the same voices who initiate the booing, no one could substantiate this.

I was at how many times the public decided to do a standing ovation? I mean, really? Did any dance merit a standing ovation?

What will happen in week 10, they'll throw gladiolas and little cuddly toys onto the floor, like with ice skating?

With Alesha handing out a 9 last night that scenario will happen by Week 5. Still love the show and wouldn't miss it for the world but is it a dance competition any longer? We no longer throw Christians to the lions so we get this instead

Were any of the standing ovations genuine?

Maybe they installed James's electric shock apparatus into the chairs?

It would be great fun if the audience started booing Brucie's jokes.

See to it somebody, please.

I went to a studio audience thing last year and the warm up guy said although people don't normally laugh out loud all the time, we should do so this time even if we dont find it particularly funny. Needless to say, I didnt!

That would be a welcomed change. Yes to booing Bruce whenever he tells his silly 'jokes'.
