Three and iOS5
Was doing a bit of searching checking out three's coverage and what not to see what it was like in N.I Came across this blog http://thranblog.info/post/109017255...early-contract and at the bottom he states: Quote:
iOs5 is appearing next week, one of the great features is iMessage, the ability to send texts, pictures, sound free to other iPhone and iPad users. Three is the only network where this feature will not work as designed due to their selective data availability.
For one how could he know this and two is he right in any way?

Hmm. I second the OP's question as I was looking into something similar with three.

Does he not just mean for example that it wont work when on Orange/T-Mobile fallback as there is no data available on it?

Is it possible it's because three don't allow free mms as part of their iPhone packages?

I'm running iOS 5 on the 3 network and iMessage is working perfectly over 3G. I couldn't say if it works over the 2G backup though in my experience data becomes so slow on that it's virtually unusable but as I have a 3G signal most of the time it's not an issue. At the very worst an iMessage won't come through until a 3G signal is picked up again

I hope this isn't true and that imessage just comes under the all you can eat data plan I just signed up for.
I'm praying three network works around here, the website says it does ( as if that means anything), I need unlimited data but I'm not paying £600 for a phone to keep my O2 unlimited data contract running. So off to three I go. |

Works fine on Orange, T-Mob & 3 when using a 3G signal. I've not tested it on 2G.

Imessage should work perfectly well over 3G and wifi.
It's also just like an integrated version of whatsapp and is free. |
