Last week I noticed that, at last, we could use the Orange network in my area and even got a text from Virgin telling me so. As the Virgin signal is useless at home this is very welcome. So for the last week I have had a strong signal from Orange and was very pleased. However yesterday someone was trying to contact me and couldn't get through. When I checked I saw Virgin "no signal" like the old days. The whole weekend I have had no signal or just 1 bar from Virgin. If I search for networks Orange is there but it has stopped sharing for some reason. Any clues? It won't allow me to register on the Orange network.

IF the Virgin (Tmobile) signal gets strong enough is should switch back automatically but it could take 1 hour, according to Virgin.

I think it only roams when it loses signal on the home network, what makes it come back to the home network though I don't know! could be a certain amount of time before it goes back to T-mobile (Virgin).

When Three falls back to Orange it takes 8 minutes to come back to a 3G signal. I timed it (very sad)

I still have no access to Orange. I did all last week but it is has now stopped. Have called tech support and they can't explain it. I texted yes as suggested and got the registered reply message. Still no joy though.

Something on Virgins website warns about phones not switching back after they have roamed...I think it was specific mobiles and required a reboot.....

"We know that some Android phones may loose signal all together when switching between the Virgin Mobile and Orange signals. If this happens just turn it off and on again to get going again. We're working on getting this fixed for all Android phones"

Many handset displays have been updated since the 3rd Oct. Originally my phone displayed 'Virgin' when i was on the T-Mobile network and 'Orange' when on Orange.

Since a Sim update last week when a text message entitled 'pers' was sent I now get 'Virgin' when on T-Mobile and 'virgin' when on Orange.

BUT ... the updated roaming to Orange (virgin with a little v) wasn't re-enabled till I'd turned the handset off then on again.

Maybe that will help.

OK got through to tech support and they "refreshed" something and I have full service back again. Fingers crossed.
