I felt really uncomfortable watching the way she was with Vincent. Poor boy, looked like he was going to be eaten alive.
Couln't help thinking "John Major" all the way through it. Not sorry she has left.
Sure it will be Nancy next week!

She went because:
a) She's a bad dancer and got the second lowest marks.
b) She's very unpopular with the general public.
c) She didn't provide any comedy value (unlike Nancy, or Widdy last year).

Yeah, if Edwina stays she will be robbed - of her dignity!

She's so lippy. Alesha was right in her sarcasm when Edwina egged Vincent on to say something. So glad she's now out of the competition. Vincent looked relieved. Never seen him like this, he's always sad to leave the show.

Perhaps she got voted off because she did hardly any dancing, I'm disappointed in Vincent for that. Don't get me wrong I don't like Edwina, and it should have been between her and the awful, arrogant Nancy.

I think Edwina did herself a lot of damage by going on about Vincent on ITT and the rehearsal videos. Quite frankly I found her behaviour embarrassing, going on and on about being an older woman, how she fancied Vincent etc YUCK!!. What on earth has happened to Edwina?. I remember reading articles on her keep fit programme and she loved running!! She looks enormous now. I know we all get heavier as we age but she seems to have let herself go completely in that department. I do not like the Strictly PR team who seem to encourage older women to make themselves ridiculous. Remember Pam and James UGH!! Or manufacture "romances" to increae the Strictly profile in the media and telephone votes. This year the contestants are so old I guess all they can do is encourage contestants to drool over the professional dancers!! The pro-dancers must be very disappointed to have such old hopeless contestants!!

Russell and to a lesser extent Rory are not young but they are certainly NOT useless/hopeless.

All of that, plus she looked and danced like a docker in a frock.
She must be seriously deluded if she thinks she is a sexy woman.

Speak for yourself. I'm the same size as I was 40 years' ago.

Are you watching the same show as me? Rory looked like a dad dancing at a wedding, and Russell is just a joke,

Sorry, but the public got it a 100% right, thankfully. I found Edwina annoying, and the way she was behaving, talking to Vincent while the judges were commenting on their dance was downright rude.

Best result ... glad to see the back of her tbh. She was becoming an embarassment to listen to.

She was annoying talking over Vincent and the Judges. And, she danced a very slow dance. Nothing challenging at all. However, I do think that dress suited her. She looked rather grande dame in it. It was very slimming for her figure.

You are entitled to your own opinion, I supposed. Rory is not good in his latin, that's a given, but he's alright in his ballroom.

Russell is nowhere near as bad as Craig Kelly, or John Sargent or Ann Widdercome. So I think he's funny, not a joke, but he's funny because he embraced the whole ethos of the show.

The situation is that they were scraping the barrel trying to rustle up fourteen competitors with a "name" who were willing to devote three months of their lives doing some very hard work.
The inclusion of Nancy and Edwina, neither of whom I suspect would have been committed to such an arduous task, was to just get to get "bums on seats."
Edwina went because she had absolutely no redeeming features to appeal to a TV audience. Her display of arrogance and petulance coupled with a "listen to me I'm talking" attitude, reminded me of Esther Rancid and her fate on here.

Russell is doing the job for which he was selected, there's one every year, he's this year's "Widow Twanky." in this enjoyable pantomime.

If we assume, rightly or wrongly, that Vincent choreographed her dance on purpose to have little proper dancing at all, then he'd know it would incur low mark. This is exactly what it did and hence her demise. So a result then. Now we need to get rid of Nancy D and Russell G and then we can concentrate of some real dancers.
I don't like SCD as a comedy show, to be honest. Get rid of the fools ASAP.

Perhaps he choreographed it this way because he realised she was not capable of doing a full-on proper foxtrot? During their interview on breakfast t.v. on Friday, it was clear she still hadn't mastered it.

Having said that, even if she had been capable of dancing it, she would still need about 7 or 8 more points from the judges to be higher on the leaderboard than Lulu ( who was overmarked in my opinion). That was never going to happen after she and Lulu both got the same score for their dances the previous week.

In the unlikely event that she had been higher than Lulu on the leaderboard, I still don't think she would have been safe.

Do you really worry that much about the opinions of people you don't know, in "real life?"

It's just an entertaining TV show, nothing more than that.
It's a just a message board, like hundreds of thousands of others.

It's just an opinion.

You don't like it?

Scroll down.

You can say what you like about a programme, why should I care?

I wouldn't make personal remarks about you, just because you had a different opinion from mine, that in my opinion would be rather juvenile, why should it bother me?

As for Edwina, to quote Liberace when a newspaper columnist criticised him, I expect she'll be "crying all the way to the bank."

I'd agree that Russell is funny to watch, but I do want to put in a word for Craig Kelly, who - while he was pretty dire - did actually make the effort to dance a few recognisable ballroom steps, rather than shimmying for all he was worth to disguise the fact that he couldn't dance the steps. (Which is still better than Widdy, in my view )

To get back OT, I think Edwina was mainly done down by her lack of public support, because she actually showed as much enthusiasm as Anita or Russell and was clearly having a wonderful time. I really dislike it when people's previous reputations get in the way of what they do within the context of the programme, and would have preferred to keep her over people trying less hard.

It's not going to happen. I presume you'd like this to become a "proper" dance competition like "Come Dancing?"
Look what happened to that, it was I guess, presumed "too middle class," the ratings began to tail off, so instead of giving it a re-vamp, the BBC kicked it around the schedules until they could say it wasn't popular any more and ditch it.

SCD is designed to be a family entertainment show, the contestants aren't all picked for their dance potential, some are picked for their entertainment value. Like it or not, the BBC will be hoping Russell will stay in for at least half a dozen weeks to provide a bit of light relief, until it gets "serious." We have the same format every year. He knows why he's there.
I bet he'd never dream of training for a "proper" dance competition. I guess he's had a hard time recently and this will provide some welcome income and maybe revive his popularity.
Can't blame him for that.
