I received a new FOXSAT-HDR yesterday to replace my FOXSAT-HD.

However upon stage 2 of the setup wizard where it detects how many cables you've got to connected, it just checks forever.

If I skip the detection, it will find all the channels fine, and in setup it shows the signal strength and quality of each cable is very good. However it will not let me record or watch a second channel and is presumably in one cable mode.

I've tried entering the hidden menu and changing it to two cable mode, but it still won't let me record BBC1HD and watch Ch4HD at the same time for example.

If I disconnect one of the cables, and then run the setup guide again it will correctly detect one cable, and won't just get stuck checking.

How can I check that both of the sockets actually go to different LNBs?

There are 7 other flats in our building, but as it's a new property and we have 2 satellite sockets I would have thought it would be Freesat+ compatible

Any advise on how to narrow down where the problem is will be much appreciated.

Have you tried repeating this exercise using the other cable? Note, you need to plug this into the same socket as used by the first cable.

Mine just worked, sounds like a signal issue to me, try connecting just one cable to one socket and then running the wizard, if that works, do the same with the second socket, that way at least you'll know whether, both sockets work.

Have a squint round the back. Are the rwo cables on the outer sockets with nothing connected to the centre one ?.

Thanks Guys, I just tried each cable one at a time in the 1st rear socket, and they both worked fine, the box detected 1 cable and found and played all channels. I then tried both cables at the same time again and to my surprise it worked! It detected 2 cables for the first time ever, and everything appears to be in order.

The only thing I think I did differently was to remember to put the box in standby before disconnecting it from the mains. But I don't see why that would cause it to constantly search for a signal when 2 cables were connected.

Strange, but I'm so glad it's not an issue with the building's setup!

I am going to suggest a stray bit of wire in one of the cable connectors shorting out the signal which was pot luck if it got in the way or not as you replugged it back in,

Must have been something like that.

Can I just check that it's ok for the copper shields of both cables to be in contact with one another behind my faceplate?

AFAIK it should be just like the earth wires in a power socket are.
