Got my copy of Living in The Material World yesterday, watched it last night. Thought it was excellent, one of the best documentaries I have seen about the Beatles. Any one else seen it yet, Share your thoughts on this thread!

My OH got it yesterday. He is besotted with The Beatles, and he adores George. We watched it last night, I love the bits with Dhani, my goodness, it's like watching George! I love the fact George was really into his gardening as well.

I really enjoyed it and my OH was in tears at the end, he gets like that.

I will get him to post on here later, if you are about.

This will be my 9th time seeing Paul in concert, I met him too at a signing in 2006 he was lovely.

I was also lucky to be at George's concert at The Royal Albert Hall in 1992 I had only found out about it the night before and knew I had to go, George is my favourite Beatle although I love all of them to bits.

Just read this to my OH, he hates you. He so badly wanted to go to George's concert, we have watched it so many times on dvd. Can I ask you how old you are?

My OH is 35. His dad was Beatles mad and my OH's earliest memories were from about 4 onwards. His earliest Beatles' memory was when John Lennon died, he was 4. I took him to New York a couple of years ago and have pictures of him outside the Dakota building and strawberry fields. He has everything they have ever done, as a band and solo, and books, dvds, etc. It's a religion! As you well know.

Going to see Paul in Liverpool and I can't take it in - so unbelievably excited, counting down the days! As a previous poster said, The Beatles are a religion to me. This is going to be like the second coming for me.

And I'm also hopefully getting my copy of this documentary tomorrow, can't wait to see it, sounds very good. The companion book is lovely, a lot of cool photos in it. As much as I'm excited beyond belief to see Paul, if George were alive I suspect that would be an even higher priority for me.

The day John died I was devastated, it was my mums birthday too and I ruined it, I had to go to work with tears streaming down my face, got on a bus and the driver said to me "cheer up love it might never happen" I could of hit him.
Even though George was my favourite I can accept his death a lot better than I can John's.

It was my dad got me into them too in 1976 he was watching A Hard Days Night and I just fell in love at first sight.

That was the first Beatles album in my house - has fond memories for me.

My OH was very upset when George died, he drove straight to his house and sat outside for a bit, then drove to Abbey Road after.

It's a wonderful documentary. He was such a gentle soul, his son speaks so fondly of him. And Dhani, well, it's so spooky watching and listening to him!

Thanks for all the replys. As I said at the start this is one of the best documentaries ever, especially since the anthology! Martin Scorsese has really created something special. Have been listening to George's solo albums non stop since watching it! I love all the Beatle solo albums, but I never get bored with George.

Ringos description of his last conversation with George is especially moving.

All Things Must Pass is a masterpiece. It often gets unfairly overlooked for some reason - I think people assume that because most of the tracks are recycled Beatles rejects that means it''s cobbled together or something. But it's not - a lot of production went into it, there's not really a bad song on there and none of them feel too out of place - and it would be quite hypocritical if people thought that an album of unused songs makes it a write-off when The White Album is exactly that.

I have watched the Anthology all the way though with my OH. It is amazing what they achieved in such a short space of time.

OH said he wished the documentary had been a bit longer and thinks it was a bit too much on The Beatles, he would have liked more George, as it was about George, if you know what I mean.

But he absolutely loved it and is reading Enlightenment books at the moment, George has got him all 'spiritual'.

Apart from All things must pass, goes without saying that is his best solo album, what other albums do people like. I have a soft spot for Gone Troppo, but listened to 33 and a 3rd today and absolutely loved it, some great songs on there!

I love Brainwashed as well. He was really going in an interesting direction towards the end, such a shame.

Yes I love Cloud 9 and Brainwashed, also George Harrison LP and I have a soft spot for Living In The Material World, Love the song Don't Let Me Wait Too Long, also Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth) is one of my fav songs ever, Love the Laughing version of Miss O'DELL too. I love all George's albums but my least fave is Dark Horse album.

The record label spoilt Somewhere In England in my view, the songs they told George to remove are far better than the ones that replaced them apart from All Those Years Ago was good.

We need a deluxe edition of Somewhere in England! Have got some of the rejected songs on a bootleg (Pirate songs), the only one that has been officially released afaik is Lay his head. (b side to got my mind set on you).
Agree about Dark Horse. A bit of a slog, but love "Far east man"!
