Lol, it reminded me he was really into the singing too. Flavia's expression was quite funny in slow-mo too as he seemed to have himself around her rather than the other way round.

No, that's the whole point, he's the one doing the swinging and loved every nanosecond of it!

Fab-u-lous!

I love the way he attacks the routines, no excuses or 'I'm not sexy' type of bleating.

That was hilarious, he does look like he's loving it!

But it's the same sort of thing that got the likes of Darren Gough and Mark Ramprakash so successful- the fact that they didn't put their image first (after the initial nerves wore off), they just went and did it! And their Quickstep and Salsa respectively showed that. Russell could go far because people will find him more endearing than the likes of those who hold back...

The funniest bit of last nights show ... Loved it!!

To me he sums up what the show is about - learning to dance, entertaining the audience, having the time of your life and making the most of the opportunity you've been given! He is embracing the whole Strictly experience.

Flav's face was pretty priceless too which made it even funnier!

When they left the judges after Craig praised Russell, I think Flav was actually drying her tears, right up till they got to Tess' pit.

Before the show started, I wasn't sure about Russell, fearing another Widdygate, and I do hate manufactured camp, but now I am completely converted. What a contrast from the complacent John Sergeant, the aloofness of Esther Rantzen. And I don't see him doing a Jimmy Tarbuck health collapse.

Russell's giving the dancing technique a good go, and if he stays in several more rounds, er, weeks, the pounds will drop off and he will dance even more energetically. I also have the feeling that he is teachable, not too much ego or faffing around in the training sessions, so my expectations are that he will improve dramatically.

So, yes I'm converted. And I would like to see him reach at least week 7. And I do wish people would stop calling him this year's Anne Widdecombe - that is Nancy de Olio's self-imposed fate.

Now I am hoping he'll surprise everyone with his ballroom. So far it was the campastic cha-cha (with some cha-cha step, not sure what Karen was talking about last week) and queeny salsa (which didn't require too much technique, which he managed to learn nonetheless). I hope his ballroom would show some good technique.

The thing with Russell is that he is not the typical, Widdy type, comedy act. He actually DANCES!!! It might not be technique perfect, it might not be aesthetically beautiful, but he is attempting the technique, and he is dancing the steps, which is wonderful.

I'm not sure people appreciate how difficult it is for an overweight person to make a dance look good. I know it from personal experience, and I've been dancing for many years on and off. Once a few pounds are on and you get a bit unfit, doesn't matter how much technique you've got, the body just doesn't do what you want it to do.

Well done to Russell for putting his all into his dances, and really show that anyone can dance, regardless age, or physique.

I adore him. He's fab.

I must admit, I am a Flavia fan and was not too chuffed when she got Russell, but I take it all back as he is fab and I am glad she got him now and not any of the others.

He seems to be very well liked by everyone on the show, and I think he is very encouraging to them all. Loved the way he singled out Robbie the other night and I also noticed when the couples were being called out as being saved, he must have shouted down a 'Well done' to Harry or something as they looked up to him and nodded

I don't think he'll win, but he's determined to have a good time trying .... and I don't think we'll see many people through the years enjoying the whole experience quite as much as he is.
