I want to extend my surround system rear speakers (connected to a PC- but am connecting that to the tv when we move), which has the basic phono RCA connector.

The system is:

I was looking at these extenders:

Will this method of extension cause any problems with impedance etc?!?

Is that intended for the speakers or the connection from TV/PC to amp?

Those leads are really designed for extending the connections between a CD player and amplifier for example rather than loudspeakers. They will probably work OK as speaker extensions given that the power involved is not huge.

One thing though. If you intend to use these speakers with your TV then you may be disappointed somewhat. As far as I can see they have no surround sound decoder of any description built in. So if you plug into the telly you might find only the left/right front pair making any noise!

They don't look as if they would be in anyway suitable for playing a DVD in Dolby Digital or DTS surround sound if you were contemplating something like that.

I get the feeling they are designed primarily for PC use where the PC does all the hard work decoding the surround sound format.

thanks Chrisjr; the souns system is a pc one, but want to connect the pc to my tv (leaving the surround system connected to the pc and play the sound through there). The extension cables are purely for the rear speakers.
