I've just been into Watford to get my physical copy of Matt's album from HMV. There were huge posters at the door advertising Noel Gallagher but there was no Matt promotion. However, there were lots of Matt CDs available in a very prominent position near the entrance.
The Tesco superstore had Matt at number one with a lot more rows of CDs than Noel had at number 2. They're obviously not flying off the shelves yet but it's only Monday.
I really like the album, I like all the songs and can even listen to RFYL within the context of the album. There may be something wrong with my taste but I'm not quite getting the love for Starlight

To me, it's one of the least memorable tracks but it's probably a grower because I can see I'm in the minority

I agree with whoever said that Stars and Lovers would make a good single because it's instantly catchy and tuneful, it's up tempo and I could see it appealing to the younger market who buy singles. It sounds recognisable which is a good thing. However, I can see that the consensus view is that Starlight is the standout track so I'll just have to give it a few more listens.
The poster who said that Matt won't get a number one album shouldn't be so premature in his predictions. The midweeks will be out at noon tomorrow and then we will know where Matt is likely to chart.
