My local Sainsbury's has a top thirty singles stand. Surely he will be on that if he is in the top ten? Do other superstores work like this?”

Morrisons is the only supermarket in my town and they don't do that and the single wasn't on the shelves there today but singles rarely are there.

It's disappointing that the sales haven't received a massive boost from the X Factor performance but if lots of Matt's most ardent and loyal fans don't really rate the song then we can't really expect the great British Public to lap it up. And I'm afraid that, on re-watching, Matt did mess up and go out of tune when he forgot his words. The verses in RFYL don't really suit Matt's voice, he sounded a bit weak and strained on some of the notes but I think he did justice to the choruses where his voice soared. I love Matt's voice but he has some vocal weaknesses which he would have been able to conceal better with his own song.

There are a lot of accusations from others that Matt lacks charisma or the 'X Factor', that he is dull and boring, but I can't see that myself. However, the more the media portray him in such a light the more the gullible public will believe it. It's amazing that there was so much printed about Matt last year in all the newspapers and magazines, he was really the focal point of all the media attention and now, there's ......nothing . How quickly the press moves on to the next generation of contestants. I bought yesterday's Independent and I enjoyed reading the interview (mainly) but I believe that paper has a fairly low readership. He somehow needs to re-emerge into the public consciousness.

Never mind. Let's move on and hope for a top 3 album. That will cheer everybody up ”

what's this then? http://www.tescoentertainment.com/st...le/8%3a776585/
of-course, it doesn't help at all that it's so much more expensive than anywhere else or that the track listing doesn't mention the two other songs!!

Seriously though, what's with all the miserablism?? So what if the MF is having a field day? I know that part of me would like to be able to rub the trolls' faces in their own unmentionables but I also recognise that that part of my head is just playing the same game of " -...(pick your favourite act) was the REAL winner..." and "it's only a success if it's No.1" surely it's time to move on?? Anyone would think RFYL wasn't even charting ffs.

And I agree with whoever said above that his wobble was due to nerves not a "vocal flaw"

However... Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds is Amazon's album of the week next week, meaning people can purchase a download for only £3.99. Hopefully Matt will shift more copies!

There's a picture of Matt on Play.com's music page which is good and he's #15 in Play.com preorders.

...and #2 on HMV for the week of release - gone up to #5 there overall - but for next Monday only NG is above him.

RE the single, I haven't got my copy yet But hopefully it might be waiting for me when I get home.

It is disappointing that RFYL is not doing better but we all know that the songs on the album are superior and the most important thing is that the album sells well. I'm trying not to panic yet and its good to hear that Letters is No.1 on Amazon pre-orders.

Also good to hear that Matt will be on Radio 1 on Thursday and I hope he performs something acoustic from the album. They may not have promoted him well which is frustrating but its all good publicity for him which is what he needs right now.

My copy of RFYL arrived this morning

Off now to have another look at AFN. This is the real Matt we all know and love ”

I haven't deliberately taken a step back, I am just playing catch up all the time - last night i had to skip about 30 pages just to be up to date when Matt performed. I think sometimes people get taken aback about just how involved you can get.

Midweeks tomorrow

This is what it says on their website:

"The Nielsen Music Awards are designed to reward those artists whose records work universally on UK radio.

There are four levels of certification:

Neilsen Music Impact Award for records which achieve 5,000 plays on UK radio* in the eight weeks immediately prior to sales release.

Neilsen Music Certified 10,000 Award for records which achieve 10,000 plays on UK radio*

Neilsen Music Certified 20,000 Award for records which achieve 20,000 plays on UK radio*

Neilsen Music Certified 100,000 Award for records which achieve 100,000 plays on UK radio*

*as monitored by Nielsen Music.

Nielsen Music monitors 165 radio stations in the UK, 24 hours hours a day, 7 days per week."

So presumably Matt's got the first level of award? Though that's odd because the Compare My Radio site's only got RFYL on 1,899 plays today.

Does the midweek chart include all sales, ie hard copies from all sources, as well as downloads?

Is this Neilsen related to the US Nielsen rating. If so I would go with that over Compare My Radio. TV programmes careers are lost or won depending on what Neilsen says. It's now used around the world. Do you think it could have been played 5000 is eight weeks?

Yeah they've being looking at what we've being saying here. Think we're all really sad. I saw those references. Best to ignore it all and let them get on with it.

I really don't care what they think anyway. But it's no use getting involved even to say this - it's not the place for a civilised discussion. They won't let it happen.
