Audley was great!

Just wanted to say I really loved Audley's efforts at the weekend, I was very disappointed for him that he was in the bottom 2.

For the waltz he was clearly making a big effort with his hold, in a few weeks time he'll get used to it and look more natural. But overall I thought his performance was very moving.

I loved the groove he had going in the salsa (although it did seem more like disco, but then that's Natalie's/whowever choreographed the routines problem).

Wanted to vote for him but didn't have enough time - we paused the tele to do the washing up and a few other jobs at 7 - 7.30, then by the time we had watched the whole programme it was 8.30 and the phone lines were shut!

I think it's a pity he was in the bottom two as well. He puts in the effort to learn to dance and has put on two respectable entertaining performances - he comes across as such a sweet, jokey guy too.

I hope he's able to avoid the bottom two next week - but I'm not sure if he will because I don't think he's got big enough fan base - hopefully it will be Nancy and Lulu at the bottom next week with Nancy going!

I can't warm to him for some reason. His Salsa has been heavily hyped on here - I thought it was pretty awful. At least he tried.

He has a lot to thank the BBC for, they contracted to show his pro fights after his Olympic win.
As any boxing fan will tell you, the majority of those fights were a joke. His opponents were carefully chosen no-hopers..has beens, old men, bouncers, part timers etc.
I'm afraid I can't warm to him at all.

I was quite shocked that Audley was in the bottom two. He was quite good and certainly working hard, likeable too. I can only assume people were thinking he would be safe and not bothering to vote for him.
What a travesty if Edwina had just received a few more votes and Audley went. I'm hoping he'll pick up more votes next week. Yes, we have our favourites but can spare a vote or two for others, especially those who should not be leaving in the first few weeks.

I know virtually nothing about boxing but wouldn't he have had to reach a certain level in his sport to be entered and win the Olympics?

Audley may very well be grateful to the BBC for agreeing to show his fights, and giving him the opportunity to get exposure on Strictly. I still felt sorry for him when he was in the bottom 2 though.

There are a number of celebs I have very little knowledge of their careers pre-Strictly, including Audley, so my opinion is only based on what I have seen on Strictly. I enjoyed his dances and I thought he came across as a nice guy, so I wish him well!

j4Rose - I couldn't find any threads in the first couple of pages supporting Audley, which is why I started this thread - I thought I was his only fan!

No he wasn't great, or at least his dance wasn't. But I liked the cut of his jib both during the show and on ITT, and hope he gets a big "defensive rebound" vote this week. There's at least two worse than he is.

I agree - he seems to be doing his best and have a great sense of humour. The right person definately went on Sunday - he's not great at the moment but he's already showing more potential than Joe Calsagy and I believe he'll get better whereas I don't think Edwina would have. He deserves to outlast Nancy at least and possibly Lulu.

Definitely Lulu IMO and I think he was better than Dan too who aside from his springing start was fairly not good/ dreadful (again IMO!).

No question that he is different class to clueless Calsaghi but didn't he ( Harrison) say that he 'was the most famous person ever to appear on Strictly?...................even if this was true its an unforgivably big-headed and unnecessary thing to say............

He said he's the biggest celebrity - he was making a joke about his height.

And this has absolutely nothing to do with him performing on SCD. If that's the case, so have Alex, Chelsea & any other celebrity who has ever had a contract with the BBC!

Go Audley! No bottom two for you at the coming weekend. Give it some wellie (size 17).
People will have to remember to vote for him though, not just for their favourites.

I like Audley's attitude and his dancing and wouldn't like to see him go so early in the competition. There are worse than him to go beforehand.

I didn't think he was that good, but he was far from the worst, and at least he gave it a good go. I agree with whoever (Len was it?) who said he was the best at dancing than any other boxer who has appeared on scd & dwts [mind you, to be fair, the rest have been SO bad, that isn't saying much!]

I was surprised to see him in bottom 2; thought Nancy, Edwina & Lulu were the 3 worst.
Then Russell (although he had the entertainment value) and then perhaps Audley.

He seems like a nice enough guy and his place in the bottom two was undeserved but I think 'great' is going a bit too far.
