congrats to step on their success. The real challenge is if they make a new album with original songs....I would be intrigued to see how that goes.

I don't know. It could've been better. I think there are other Steps B-Sides which were better. I personally think that the majority of songs on CD1 of The Last Dance would've made great singles!!!!!

Don't know why people are getting over excited, this ultimate colleciton will soon fall out of the charts, It's success was mainly down to the fact that inorder to buy pre-sale tickets you had to purchased a digital download of the album. The record company obviously knew it would struggle to have any impact, this way they've fixed it so that it did well. Gold has been available for years aswell as the dvd of music videos. This ultimate collection offers nothing new. So dont know why fans have rushed out to buy songs they already have. Funny how Steps agreed to promote the album, considering the record company were gonna release it even if they didn't reform. They obviously saw money signs. It's clear the band members still aren't that keen on each other. After the tour they will probably just disappear. There music was epic, songs like that aren't produced nowadays. You can't modernise their sound, there probably best just singing the hits, because they have become classics over time. New stuff won't live up to the likes of 'One for Sorrow' or 'Loves Gotta Hold On My Heart'.

Not especially. The album entered the midweeks at #2 on Tuesday and stayed there on Wednesday and Thursday. The presale downloads weren't accessible until Thursday afternoon for most people and so wouldn't have been counted untill Friday/Saturday.

Some sales figures The Ultimate Collection sold 34,200 last week and was about 6700 ahead of #2. But was apparently the 2nd lowest selling #1 of the year so far.
Step One has sold 1,398,605 since release
Steptacular has sold 1,288,794
Gold has sold 1,113,435
No figured for Buzz...

Yeah of course *Sarcastic look*, That is why it was #1 on iTunes (who had nothing to do with the pre-sale) and shops and online retailers where selling out of the CD....

I think they will increase sales this week, i know they wont be number 1 this coming week but sales should increase because them getting number 1 will bring alot of exposure to the re union, the final show on living will give it a boost plus last week a few online retailers and high street retailers ran out of stock as they didnt expect the album tobe a big seller and this week they will have all stocked up, i think sales will definitly pass 40,000 this coming week and beat the 34,200 sales of its debut week.

No. It's not available to purchase separately, only has part of the album, so it won't chart on the singles chart.

I agree with most of this I'm afraid. It's quite clear that the presale helped cement the album at number 1 and the record company knew this, it was also a shrewd way to earn extra cash. How many people bought that album that would never have got it just to get tickets? Any average Steps fan would have every song off that album other than Dancing Queen.

The problem is they have now released extra dates and are going for he same presale 'opportunity' as they call it. I'd say it was fleecing as much money from people as possible. Basically if you don't buy our rehashed album which you already have, you may as well sit at the back of the arena. Everybody is getting so excited abut the reunion, they have failed to see that they have been mugged off!

Aaah, but the physical cd/dvd, I can imagine people wanting to add to their collection as a keepsake. Not the digital download, which you shamelessly had to buy to get even near to them on the tour. Especially the way the tickets were spread over presale and general sale. It's quite unlike any presale I've ever known for any artist.

Yes, I know, if people who already have all the songs are foolish enough to hand over more money then that's fine. It's who they are excluding which is my problem. I always believe everyone should have a fair chance at tickets and have to pay no more than the face value. This hasn't happened.

The presale no doubt gave the album that extra push, but it by no mean contributed wholly to the albums success. It was at #2 throughout the week (the presales weren't counted until Fridays update) at was at #1 on iTunes for pretty much the entire week.

Quit with the negativity and face facts... STEPS ARE BACK

I don't think people are being negative, just realistic. As much as I love them, the main reason they are getting back other than closure is for the dosh. That's quite obvious.

My beef isn't wih the group, it's with the way the ticket sales have been handled and still being handled.

I like 'Pure Pop', too. I also do Chart Statistics for UK Chart Books.

ABBA are the biggest Male/Female Pop Group in UK Chart History.
(The way some Steps Fans are going on, anyone would think that it was Steps!).

Steps have done well to go in at No.1, just under 10 Years, since their 'Gold' Album was at No.1.

But, they mean little next to ABBA.

Steps - it is their 3rd UK No.1 Album, & 8th Week at No.1. ABBA - 9 No.1 Albums, & 57 No.1 Weeks.

It is Steps 52nd Top 10 Week, & 25th Top 5 Week in the Album Chart. ABBA - 224 Top 10 Weeks, & 149 Top 5 Weeks.

Oh - They've had 2 No.1 Singles - 2 Weeks at No.1. ABBA - 9 No.1 Singles, & 31 Weeks at No.1.

And ABBA were Globally big - Steps never were. They were briefly big in Australia & New Zealand, but, not for very long.
In Continental Europe, only Belgium gave them more than 1 Top 5 Hit. (They had 1 Top 5 Hit in Sweden).

They were really only consistently big in the UK & Ireland - with their Irish success being at quite a lower level than their UK success.

Look at their Global Chart Stats here - as you can see, they were only ever truly huge in the UK:,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steps_discography

Here is Evanescence's Global Chart Stats. As you can see, at no time did Steps have an Album as big as the first 2 by Evanescence,
or a Single as big as the first one by Evanescence.....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evanescence_discography

I'm not a Fan of either Act - I merely show Chart Statistics.....
Wikipedia can be edited by anyone..... Anyone with half a brain cell would know that.....
