You're making this up as you go along. I did some looking and found only a single source that suggested Steps had sold 25 million of anything - and even then, it was 25 million records (which includes singles AND albums), with 15 million albums. The vast majority of these sales came from the UK.

Conversely, the first Evanescence album - Fallen - has sold 15 million copies worldwide. The Open Door, their second album, sold 6 million copies worldwide. It remains to be seen how this new album will do; it certainly won't shift those sorts of numbers, but it will easily do another million.

Oh yes, and if Evanescence aren't popular in non-English speaking countries (a ridiculous assertion to begin with), I wonder why they played the main stage on the final night of the Rock In Rio festival in Brazil?

Anyways, I won't waste any more of my time debating the bloody obvious with the most deluded 24 year-old in the world.
You'll be surprised how many people in Brazil can speak English!

Anyway, I won't waste my time anymore debating facts with someone who clearly needs a life.

I actually came into this thread today after hearing the chart results and wanted to say well done to Steps, no point in me denying that they clearly have a strong UK fanbase.

But then I noticed that myscrapbook2011 was still trolling and making up nonsense about a band they know nothing about, so had to get in my two cents before leaving you good people to your thread
I don't troll. I speak fact. And I always go to the right sources..... NOT Wikipedia!

Glad they're doing well what with the amount of crap in the charts today its nice to see some people appreciate good fun music.

Now lets hope this inspires an S Club 7 reunion

Hell no! I draw the line at them! They were the 90's version of Same Difference!

OMG!! has anyone on here mentioned the fact that STEPS HAVE infact been in the studio and recently recorded a cover of Banarama's Dum Dum Boy?
This would be great! I just heard the song and it's really good. Interesting that it's another Bananarama song and from the duo. I like that they do that though because I feel that Bananarama from the 90s onwards seems to go a bit unnoticed and they have good songs. I'm glad Keren and Sara can get recognition. I absolutely love the line "Of all the things I was ever planning for, this was the last thing on my mind"

I can understand people's feelings regarding the tickets but Steps were my favourite band as a kid and I still love them, I was so upset when they broke up and after 10 long years they are back, recorded a new song and potentially another, and I get to see them again, the first band I ever went to see in concert, I certainly don't mind paying whatever the tickets cost to get the chance to see them again I don't know what's going to happen in the future so I don't want to have any regrets not seeing them. I know that's just me but I can't help but be excited

they arent holding a gun to anyone's heads to make them buy the album/tour tickets..I see your point to some extent though
this would make sense if they never sold more physical cds than download, last time i heard it was 70% cds and 30% downloads, which i believe completely voids your opinion.

I dunno how reliable the rumour is and I guess at this stage we have to take everything with a pinch of salt, unfortunately. However, if it is true, I think it's a good choice and at least covering something that isn't terribly well know, they get to put thier own stamp on it (like they did with DSOB, which I never knew was a cover til Russ pointed it out). Plus it's just the right level of camp, euro-disco cheese that Steps do really well.

By the way, how do we all feel about new Steps material? Can somebody please make a poll as to whether or not they should make a new album - be interesting to see what the results would be.

Ta.

I didn't know DSOB was a cover either lol and I would love if they did a new album! More dance moves to learn

Steps are the only group I know that can put a happy dance to a sad song

Such a popular comeback that they've failed to retain the top spot for a 2nd week

No.3 in midweeks, guess now the pre-sale is over, Steps are on the slide

They were never gonna beat off Noel Gallagher and Matt Cardle.

Still holding up really well and 100,000 tickets sold already so you're talking rubbish

how hilarious for you.

still at least it got to #1, with almost nothing new on offer. i doubt the cover of `dancing queen` was a deciding factor for anyone. well done to steps!

The funny thing is, Steps only reformed because they couldn't prevent the record company from releasing this collection, so they decided to get in on it, money signs no doubt. It would have gone unnoticed had they not rushed to help promote it. This is certainly not how Steps wanted to make a comeback, flogging a complimation, which is basiclaly Gold, to thier fans. Their just saving face. More people would rather buy Matt Cardle, an album with unknown songs, based on the judgement of a single that didn't even make the top 5, compared to an ultimate collection of classic steps

Steps maybe number 3 in the midweeks but their sales WILL be highe rthis week than last, so its a rise not a slide in sales!!

The album also climbs 7 places in Ireland this week to number 13.

I see they're tuning on the xmas lights at some shopping centre. I was kinda hoping they'd be doing something a bit more constructive with their time.

How do you know this? I know Noels sales are huge and Matts will be pretty big but I've not seen any figures for Steps yet.

I'd like them to increase, I might add

Actually some bands reform because they want too not because they are skint. Part of Steps appeal is because it ended so badly so you want to believe they wanted to end the band right.

I dont believe this to be the case though

neither do i. however, they are a manufactured pop band, it is no surprise there were personal clashes. besides, if they put on a good show for the tour. surely most people will be happy.
