What a lovely classy start to an interview - so this is New magazine - #oneIwontbebuying - ever!
We have to admit we breathed a huge sigh of relief when Josie Gibson’s relationship with fellow Big Brother contestant, John James Parton, came to an end in March.
After falling in love on TV, a vicious cycle of increasingly nasty squabbles saw their relationship come to an acrimonious end after just seven months.
WTF - why is a journalist breathing a sigh of relief - WTF has it got to do with them?
Fast forward another seven months and Josie, 26, is here at new! towers looking sensational in our glamorous shoot, twinkling as she talks about her new man.
Luke Sanwo is a 23-year-old plumber from London. A quarter Nigerian, he also happens to be tall, dark, super handsome and – says Josie – “amazing” in bed.
Again - lovely
Falling in love obviously suits Josie. It’s hard to believe that the blonde bombshell standing in front of us today is the same person who was papped in a less than flattering bikini, drinking lager on a beach back in June.
The OK! TV presenter is the first to admit she wasn’t happy back then, saying, “I felt lonely.”
But toy-boy Luke has given her a new lease of life and she is absolutely glowing.
She doesn’t even seem to mind that she’s put on a stone since they got together in August – after being pictured looking slimmer than ever.
I'm sure she wasn't happy - and sure she was lonely after John left - that's nothing new
“Luke doesn’t like skinny girls anyway,” she shrugs happily, dipping a carrot stick in some hummus, “He’s a bit of a feeder!”
She said this about John once upon a time
Here, in a refreshingly honest interview, Josie tells new! she’s having the best sex of her life and assures us that her new man’s a keeper.
He's a keeper - she said this about John tooo
But first, we have to quiz her about the rather strange scabs we’ve spotted on her feet…
Soooo she just happened to show them her feet - oh right
Josie, what the hell have you done to your feet?
Carpet burns.
On the tops of your feet?
Yeah I know, weird, isn’t it? I thought I’d get them on my knees but I must have sturdy knees.
I'm sorry but I think she's going out of her way to exaggerate this.
They look sore…
Oh my God, I couldn’t even put my Uggs on. Never shag on a rug from Ikea!
So are you and Luke making it out of the house much?
Not a lot, no!
Is he good in the sack?
Yeah… Really. Yeah. Like, amazing. Best I’ve ever had.
She's trying reaaaal hard to make a point isn't she?
At least while you’re walking round with carpet burns on your feet, you’ve got a big smile on your face…
[Laughs] I lost my randy mare status for a while. Now it’s all the time! Nine times in one day the other day. Nine! Oh no, his mum could see this…
Nine times - is that because John told her he went 8 times one night??? Or did he with her??
Have you met her?
Not yet. His mum and sister moved to Ireland. He’s very close to them, though. He’s the man of the family and speaks to them all the time.
He’s a good family boy then?
Yeah. He’s a good ’un. You know when you can just tell that someone’s genuine? He’s really protective of his family. He’s always done a lot for his mum.
John was really close to his mum tooo!
Can you see yourself settling down with him in the future?
Oh, he’s definitely a keeper.
How did you meet?
At a bar in Clapham. He said he’d had his eye on me all night. He told me how pretty I was and offered to buy me a drink. But he’s 23 and I’m 26 and normally I like older guys, so I left it. Then I bumped into him again at a festival and we’ve been inseparable ever since.
They have not been inseparable - she's been out loads of times by herself
Did he know who you were?
No. He doesn’t have a telly! He was like, “Why is everyone asking you for a picture?” My friend had to explain to him.
Why doesn’t he have a TV?
He says he’d rather read a book.
Nothing wrong with that!
Has he heard of Big Brother?
He’s heard of it but he literally doesn’t watch anything. He didn’t even know who John Terry was.
So has Luke never seen you on TV?
He came to Big Brother’s Bit On The Side and sat in the audience like a bunny in the headlights.
Why like a bunny in the headlights - the attention wasn't on him - Wasn't John like a rabbit in headlights when he left the house?
Did the age gap worry you at first?
Yeah, but he’s really mature and really sweet. Everyone calls him “Laid-back Luke”.
Laid back - just like Girl was easy going - very co-incidental
Do you see him every day?
It’s getting that way, yeah [smiles]. He’s so fit. Everything about him is my type. He’s 6ft 5in… He’s got a massive knob [cracks up]. And he’s also got a really high sex drive!
Trying to get at someone here????
Do you love him?
We love hanging out together. I love everything about him, but it’s not actual love yet.
So it's not actual love - but they shag 9 times a day - come on people - that's not Josie at all!
So you haven’t said it?
No. But I think we’ll get there. It all goes tits up when you love ’em!
So she's finally admitting here that she loved John!
Are you surprised you met someone so soon after splitting with John?
Yeah. I thought I’d be single forever. I didn’t want to meet anyone. It just happened.
What do your friends think?
Everyone who’s met him loves him.
Has Luke met your family yet?
We were going to go this weekend but we’ve been invited to [Big Brother series one winner] Craig Phillips’ birthday. Mum speaks to him on the phone. She’ll be like, “Is Luke with you? Let’s have a word. Alright, Lu! You couldn’t go down the paddock and fix this for me, could you?” He doesn’t mind. He’s a pleaser.
Bedroom antics aside – how does Luke please you?
We go out dancing. He’s my dancing partner. He cooks, cleans.
Luke cleans up after you?
Actually, I trick him. I go, “Oh, look at the state of it in here. Let’s get cleaned up then I’ll go and get ready.” Then I come down and he’s done it all. Then I say, “Well done, that’s really good,” so he’ll do it more!
John tidied up as well!
Does he have his own place?
Yeah. But I never stay at his. He hasn’t got a TV!
How many times have we heard her say she doesn't watch TV and if they are shagging this much - why do they need one?
You feel like a totally different girl these days then?
You know what, I’m glad I had a sh*t relationship. You need the sh*t ones to make you appreciate the good ones. This is so relaxed and free. Nothing’s a stress. It’s so easy. I just feel like a big weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I’ve got someone who works with me, not against me.
She sounds like a totally different girl too! But still getting digs in!
Have you spoken to John James lately?
No. We’ve not really got anything to say to each other. He acted like a t**t. It didn’t need to be like that. I was quite happy to be his friend. His ego got the better of him.
Really - neither of them have given the impression that friendship has been on the cards!
How do you feel about him now?
I don’t feel nothing – it’s like it never even happened.
Oh that's why she needs to call him names
Does John know you’re seeing Luke?
He’s in Australia, so he probably won’t know about it.
Was the split what caused you to lose so much weight?
Not really. It was because my fat arse was all over every magazine!
How did you feel when you saw those pictures in the magazines?
I wanted to leave the country!
Nothing much to say here!
Were you unhappy with the way you looked back then?
I was massively feeling sorry for myself. It wasn’t even the fact that I’d split up from John. It was more that I felt lonely in London, I think. And my weight goes up and down like the FTSE 100 anyway.
You were pictured looking much slimmer back in August…
I toned up a lot. I was training all the time and I gave up alcohol for two and half months.
Have you put weight on since then?
About a stone. It’s all the cosy nights in with Luke. I’m getting comfortable! I started drinking again, too. I went off the rails.
She's been out more since August than she has for a good long while!
John James said in the past that he hated you drinking…
He hated everything. When we were together I got drunk, probably four times. Luke likes going out. He likes the windows open, the curtains open. He’s on my wavelength.
More digs!
Have you been too busy to exercise?
Yeah, I’ve been doing other things [laughs].
Well, that burns calories…
I’m not burning calories, he is! I’m like a sack of spuds.
Again what she said to John!
What do you do when you do exercise?
I don’t really enjoy a lot of exercise to be honest. I like classes. I love boxing. I want to get hypnotised so I exercise every day. [Adopts comedy hypnotist’s voice] “Come on, Josie, stop drinking, stop smoking.”
What would you say your perfect weight is?
I’m pretty happy how I am now – a nice 16. Luke doesn’t like skinny girls. He likes porkies. No, I shouldn’t say that! I mean curvier women.
See above!
Are you drinking a lot?
I’ve had a few crazy weeks. I’ve been getting invited to everything. And they throw on loads of free drink. You want to make the most of it! Luke’s had to carry me up my stairs twice – three flights!
What happened when you went for dinner with Kerry Katona and Mel B’s sister Danielle Brown last month?
Kerry and Danielle had to look after me. I was so pissed up. How bad is that? I think I might have embarrassed them.
Did you and The Only Way Is Essex star Lauren Goodger talk man trouble when you met at the Prima awards?
We were saying how horrible it is to split up in the public eye, but she didn’t slag Mark [Wright] off. We were too busy having a good time to talk about those sh*ts anyway! To be honest, I thought she might be a bit up herself but she’s lovely, so down to earth. I’d like to go out with her again.
This is slaggin him off - right now in this magazine - once again she's talked more about John than she has the plumber
How are you finding your new role as a presenter on OK! TV?
I was a bag of nerves at first. People don’t realise what bloody hard work it is! You’ve got someone in your ear, and you’ve got to read something at the same time. I love it but I need to get some glasses because I can’t see the autocue.
What happened to your glasses?
When I sold my car, my glasses were still in it! When I got the job with OK! TV, I didn’t have time to go and get some more. I didn’t want to miss the opportunity, so I just went out blind.
What’s it like working with Jeff Brazier on the show?
He’s really lovely. And I think he’s fit. And he’s meant to have a massive knob. I can’t stop thinking about knobs!
He must be as un-jealous as girl was - to be going on like this!
Have you been watching Big Brother?
I’m really getting into it now. I love it when everyone forgets they’re being filmed. And I love Alex. I wouldn’t mind giving her me winner’s crown.
How do you think Brian Dowling is doing as the new presenter?
Do you know what? I really look forward to Friday nights. It took him about two shows, but now his personality is coming right out. He has totally owned it. He’s brilliant.”
You see Carole, you analyse and strip it apart piece by piece and I understand where you're coming from and yes she did mention John more than plumber and she did say the piece about when you're in love. And I agree 100% with what you say. But it was still far too crass for me. Very disappointing to hear her talk this way, she is a presenter now and I would have thought she wouldn't go there. But I agree with your take on the interview. Thank you
