Panasonic TV - how to......?
I have Panasonic's new TX-28PM1 TV and it's excellent apart from a slight horizontal stretch to the picture. I "think" I can access the service menu using the method someone posted, but the screen says something like "Service Menu 1" and "TV>Ext or Ext>TV". Could someone kindly please advise me how I should proceed to just reduce the horizontal size of the picture slightly. The more details the better! Also, will making any changes delete my channel names or customized picture settings? And will making a change on a "widescreen" channel similarly effect a 4:3 picture too? Is the TV picture visible while I make changes and will any changes effect the convergence because this is pretty damn perfect so I don't want the one change I make to affect any other parameters of the picture. Thank you!

Kev if you insist on trying to sort out the problem yourself then please make sure you write down all the original settings before you start to mess with them,so that you can put it back to where it was if you make a mistake.

I used to service Panasonic TV's (but not for 4 years) so I might be a little out of date:
On the widescreen models I used to service, when you altered the geometry picture settings in 16/9 mode, it also affected all other viewing modes..... so careful adjustments are required! I think that when you exit the service mode, your own settings might get lost (not 100% sure though) Careful adjustment is essential as it's easy to mess up a lot of things, possilby damaging the TV in extreme cases (voltages can also be altered) You can get some (older) info on service modes < here > |
