I thought the dress code for the audience was smart / glamorous.
How did the guy in the flat cap, on the front row behind Brucie slip the net ?
He made the bloke in the band with the 'pork pie' hat look like a fashion icon.

Go on, tell me you didn't comment when you saw him.

I have no problems with the guy in a pork-pie hat. I was glad he looked glum when Brucie tried to joke about him. I wished everyone would just look glum and stay quiet when Brucie cracked his stupid jokes. That'll show him!

Yeah, Brucie should get the same treatment as Dan Lobb did on ITT last night.

The guy in the pork-pie hat is the bass player. I've mentioned before that a few years ago he often posted useful information on here about the band and actually was kind enough to answer several questions.
Then of course as is typical on here, a few lost their manners and he stopped posting.

What was he doing sitting among the audience? Shouldn't he be playing in the band then?

He wasn't sitting in the audience, someone's previous response led to your confusion.

The guy in the audience was wearing a flat cap. He was the subject of Bruce's "joke."

The bass player in the pork-pie hat is always seen just behind Dave Arch.

Okay. I got confused. The musicians (and the singers!) were oftentimes on the money and made the show for me. I really can't understand why people kept saying the singers (esp.) were out of tune or be nasty to the musicians in any way. They've done a stellar job on SCD.

My original post was about the guy in the audience with the flat cap and whether this was appropriate attire, not being nasty, just thought he looked a little silly.
I love the bass player with the pork pie hat.

I made this same observation on Saturday nights discussion. The ladies make an effort and wear their best frocks, but the blokes look like slobs in jeans, open shirts, and caps. Surely the producers could put the smart dressed men in suits and ties in the front row.

That'll disappoint a lot of people when Harry's bandmates get shoved to the back.

Flat 'ats are in fashion at the mo, even for women. I wear one, and so does me whippet.

I don't go to disco's. Do they wear grunge in disco's?

No, the front row is reserved for "BBC contracted employees" and "friends of the band."
Kara Tointon, made the point that she got into nearly every show of the previous series to her's as she'd been in a BBC soap and knew the right people.

The bass player made the point that at the time, they got their band parts early enough but that the BBC only paid I think, for an hour's rehearsal time.

exactly McFly spotting is my new favourite Strictly hobby

Though if they want to force the boys to wear suits I wont be complaining....

I think its quite funny (in a warped way) that the dress code for the general public audience tickets says "smart - no jeans" but obviously this doesnt count if you are celeb guests or guests of a celeb... Brian May turned up in Jeans and a Hawaiian shirt and dodgy loafers (I know because I held the door to the studio open for him) for the first live show (and although I dont think the jeans came over on the TV) I would say that the dress code should count for everyone .

They're not chartered accountants.

Aww how cute did they look, peeping out from under that pink feather fan? They must never be relegated to the back.

Cancel the show if people turn up in jeans I say.

The way the audience dress is far more important that any other part of the show.

I've no idea of course, but I'd imagine the audience has to queue for quite some time before the programme starts and possibly not under shelter?
If so, can't blame them for being casually dressed.
But the so called "celebrities" invited probably just swan in and don't have to queue, so no reason for them not to look presentable.

Swan in is EXACTLY how they do it. Sometimes with real swans under their arms.

The BBC have a special swannery to keep them in during filming.

(Yeah...people have to queue for ages)

Definitely "swan."

I've always liked that word to describe that sort of demenour.

Gliding silently past the plebs in the queue,

Yes a swan sanctuary, known to insiders as cranes creche.
