"Incredible role model for young women everywhere"?
Whoever wrote that makes me sad. ![]() But, putting that aside, congrats to her! |

Maybe I'm being a div here, but how is she the biggest selling artist over the past 12 months? Surely that's overlooking a certain someone...?
p.s. you sure you didn't write that article yourself, GL?

'21' was only released 8.5 months ago so it's a possibility, I suppose (it's cleverly worded to include her huge first week's sales last year?). Even if it's correct now, it won't be soon, lol.

Exactly. She's a massive success, but she doesn't have any power or influence.
![]() ![]() But this is a thread of joy to celebrate an incredible talent's success not to pick holes in an article written by one of the most respected music corporations in the world.

According to the very reliable Oldbloke on UKMix, it actually isn't true any more, even though '21' has only been available since the end of February in the US.
DECADE TO DATE WEEK 91 The unstoppable Adele moves up to #2 on this list of the top selling albums of the current decade (2010-2019) and looks a safe bet to move past Eminem to the #1 slot in 3 to 4 weeks time. Rank - Sales - TITLE - Artist 01 - 4,047,000 - RECOVERY - Eminem 02 - 3,773,000 - 21 - Adele 03 - 3,680,000 - SPEAK NOW - Taylor Swift 04 - 3,673,000 - NEED YOU NOW - Lady Antebellum http://www.ukmix.org/forums/viewtopi...8284&start=750 Tut tut, Billboard!

Well we can pump holes in that straight away as Speak now went throughh the 5m sales barrier a while back.
Shipped, maybe (although that would mean an almost Gaga-esque number of unsold albums on retailer's shelves). The figures I quoted are actual official Neilsen soundscan sales figures, GL. You know, the figures Billboard bases its album chart on

![]() I for one would be pissed off with Taylor and her record company if I felt she was saying things that are not true as it looks so bad. |

If you think its wrong get onto billboard and tell them, I am sure they dont mess around quoting incorrect figures considering who they are, you know its not a micky mouse organiation is it. If that is wrong they would be slaughted by fans and others getting onto them about it. Taylor and her record company have also said the same so it appears a lot of people are quoting wrong figures.
And.............breathe it's no biggie, their info is actually only a week out of date. '21' passed Speak Now's sales only last week.

She's talented and I guess she deserves it. Wouldn't say her music is that out of this world though. It's always about love (with the few exceptions, and even then you could look at them like they're about love). Taylor needs to move away from the little girl with a broken heart thing now and start evolving her lyrics.

Taylor 1st weeks sales in the US where over 1 million and then the Xmas sales on top of that. Adele released in the Feb of this year and still took over Taylor's sales.
So funny ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

The sales are out by a week. Adele has now.sold more than Taylor in the last 12 months. No big deal.
![]() What this does prove is many of these so called music sale figures websites that people are using are obviously totally wrong. |

Absolutely well deserved by the wonderful Taylor Swift, cumulatively nobody is selling records and tickets like her so there is absolutely no case to be made for anyone else.
No idea why Adele is coming up as a comparison in this thread because Billboard track all album, singles and ticket sales over the last year and Taylor has absolutely blown Adele out of the water in that respect

There are many songs she has written with extremly good and complex lyrics, yuor just picking up on a few chart songs, some of her best writing are tracks that are not released as singles as they are less mainstream. She is an excellent songwriter and a great asset to the music industry, the thing is she does it without any hassle, gimmicks, stunts or being in the news everyday and thats why so many love and respect her. |

Taylors lyrics fit in with the song she writes, and her songs are about her life, which is one of the hardest things for a songwriter to write about, and thats why she gets so much praise from people in the industry who understand this.
