If you're not a regular visitor to the main forum you may be unaware of this thread (link below). It's definitely worth viewing at least, or even posting to if you have an opinion.

The ignorance of some younger people will either amuse you or horrify you.

When people are asked for their favourite Beatles track , the usual suspects Get Back , Something , Let It Be etc are often mentioned , mine would have to be the underrated and seldom played , And Your Bird Can Sing , two minutes of perfection .

And Your Bird Can Sing - The Beatles

Noticed on amazon that the classic animated Beatles film, Yellow Submarine is due out soon (end of may according to beatles.com), also heard that the songtrack cd is going to be re-issued at the same time. Probably wont bother with the cd, but the Blu Ray is exciting! Regards the cd, does anyone know if it will be the version originally released back in 1999, or will they use the 2009 remasters?

You are probably aware of this Beatles related thread:-

http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=297905

on the main forum, so there's no real need for me to mention it here.

On the other hand, mentioning it is a good way of giving this thread a not before time bump!

I bought my brother the Revolver and Abby Road albums for his birthday...got him Sgt Pepper last year with Katy Perry (dont ask ) and i really love that his taste in music is so varied like mine really

the Revolver album really highlights to me a lot of "fun" and carefree attitude is lacking in pop music these days...i mean by all means have an insane hook but a lot of the maturity of a hook and prowess is lacking i feel listening to Revolver.

Its like i can hear why they were and are the acclaimed band they were. And Revolver i feel hits it hard...i loved the Indian vibes on the album and the nonsensical vibes and the subliminal messaging in it...and just over half an hour in length too :-O was really surprised. Will re-listen later.

But i do love a reinvention B-)

My two favourite songs by The Beatles are "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" and "Yellow Submarine".

As some of you will have seen in the 60s Appreciation Thread, I decided my top 100 singles of the 60s on Tuesday. No fewer than 8 of these were from the Beatles, namely:

She Loves You (63)
Can’t Buy Me Love (64)
I Feel Fine (64)
We Can Work It Out (65)
Strawberry Fields Forever (67)
Magical Mystery Tour (67)
Lady Madonna (68)
Hey Jude (68)

I did rank just my top 10. We Can work it Out was no 8 and I Feel Fine no 2.

I was going to make this post to the "1960's Appreciation Thread", as I tend to post there a lot, but as my post is Beatles-related and as this thread is in dire need of a bump I'm making it here instead.

Yesterday on a main forum thread called "What's Your Fave Beatles Track?" I posted the following:-

Originally Posted by JohnnyForget:

As this song sounds a lot better coming from the Fab Four than from my lips, here's the original version:-

The Beatles - I'll Get You (1963)

Three more examples of the Beatles early "lightweight pop" that I also really like:-

The Beatles - Taste of Honey (1963)

The Beatles - It Won't Be Long (1963)

The Beatles - Things We Said Today (1964)

The Beatles must have visited NY a few times on tour, but do we have a photo of them in the streets of NY ..
all we see is pics in either hotels or tv studios.

Are you trying to suggest that the Beatles didn't actually go to New York in the same way that some conspiracy theorists try to suggest that American astronauts didn't actually go to the Moon?

If they ventured out for a walk they would have needed half of NYPD to accompany them to protect them from hysterical female fans.

The Beatles are forever photographed holding guitars on stage.......... but I have a suspicion that they wrote all their brilliant songs............ on the piano !!!

Paul and John both played the old joanna and I think it was while tickling the ivories that they got inspired to write.........
Thats my theory anyhow !

Slightly off topic.....are there any fans of The Rutles out there? I listened to there 1996 "reunion" album, Archaeology today for the first time in ages, and it really is very good. The songs manage to rise above being merely pastiche and are actually great songs in there own right. Shrang-ri-la is an absolute classic!
