Quick heads up to everyone.....just noticed on the schedule for next satuday night BBC2 "Arena:The Beatles Magical Mystery Tour". A 2 part doc about the making of the film. Does anyone know if this is what is on the DVD that is about to be released, or is it an exclusive? Either way, will still be watching! Next weekend looks great on tv with all the Jeff Lynne stuff on BBC4 the night before and now this!

How long has this thread been going? I'm a fairly casua; Beatles fan (I know the hits but I don't have any studio albums).
My favourites include Love Me Do, Oh! Darling, Twist & Shout, Ticket To Ride, Hey Jude along with others.

Welcome. I dusted now The Beatles albums and listen to them little by little, working on Yellow Submarine now.

Btw., I hope it's not too much of advert, but there is a little know book made by a private person interviewing different artists and known people about their favourite Beatles albums, how they came in contact with them, what it meant for them, why just this album. Some of those who speak worked with The Beatles and are telling different small stories. Others analyze particular songs.

If anyone is interested, the book is called The Music Was The Thing. One can get it in some shops in Liverpool or through Facebook - search for the book title.

I got a copy for myself and after reading it also one for a friend as a Christmas present.

Thought people might be interested in this, a live performance of one of the new songs off Maccas new album.

Personally I think this would have made a better choice as lead off single, but what do I know!

When I decided my top 100 songs of the 60s in 2012, the Beatles had 8 songs featured, especially I Feel Fine from 1964 which was my no 2. I decided my top 40 from 2004-13 today, and Paul McCartney's New from 2013 made it. So, he must be my favourite long-term musician of my life!

I was nt aware of it but it seems like there was a lot of
others who appeared on the Ed Sullivan that night apart from the Beatles for eg... the cast of Oliver including
Georgia Brown Davy Jones ( later of the Monkees ) who was playing the arful dodger in the stage show.
Wonder if the complete show is anywhere on the web to watch from beginning to end .

It was a variety show, they showed all sorts every week, circus acts, dancers, comics. The Beatles were on at the beginning after the intro, then they came back towards the end of the show. The wikipedia entry is very interesting!

Morecambe and Wise made quite a few appearances in the mid sixties, when they were trying to crack America.

Not sure if there are any complete shores on youtube, but I think there might be a Dvd available with all the shows featuring the Beatles on it.

My favourite was the stoned version, when they could hardly sing for giggling - "when your bike is broken", etc.

I'm two and a half months late with this excellent April Fools hoax, but I've only just come across it on the net.

It had me believing it all the way through until I saw the date!
