BEST & WORST DECOR IN A SOAP HOUSE
WalfordWill
20-09-2004
When it comes to their choice of decor in their homes, nobody gets it more right and more often, more disastrously wrong than the residents of Albert Square, Weatherfield and the Dales. With such appaulling decor in their homes, is it any wonder these characters often have such tragic, dramatic lives.

However, who is the King and Queen of tacky? Who could do with a visit from Carol Smilie? Who do you think has gotten it right? And, who do you think could benefit from a visit from Kim and Agie in How Clean Is Your House?

Which house would you like to live in, and which house would you not so much as touch the threshold for fear of a mouse running up your leg, or worse, being bitten by the bug thats caused the current inhabitants to abuse their home with such nasty detail.

Feel free to mention any soaps that I haven't listed.

Not even with a forty foot barge pole, 3 pairis of surgical gloves, an anti radiation suit, oxygen mask and all other assciated kit would I set foot in chez battersby. Kim and Aggie would have their work cut out for them there.

I think the Vic is beyond even Smiley Carol Smillies help. It needs a makeover with 4 kgs of semtex.

Corrie's Baldwin and Battersby homes
Emmerdale's Betty and Seth's house
EE - everything looks awful!

LOL Yeh that awful kitchen in the Vic is appaulling, can blame Sharon for that.

Totally agree I wouldn't touch Battersbys with a twenty foot bargepole lol

In regards to decor, nobody really in Walford seems to have a clue. Jack and Vera have to be the King and Queen of tacky in Weatherfield in my book though.

The worst I can think of, was the Farnham's kitchen in Brookie. Those dark grey presses and dark blue tiles, dear god it was horrible. The trend continues in Hollyoaks, the Deans now live in said house, but they've matched the kitchen by doing the rest of the house in awful colours and shapes on th walls. Reminds me of something Big Brother would do to send the housemates mad lol

Ashley and Fred's in Corrie - needs only three words to decribe it - vile green wallpaper

As far as I can remember, The Duckworths house doesn't look very inviting from the outside but inside, it's equally as terrible!

Danni and Joe's flat in Hollyoaks is pretty vile, I believe the decor is the work of previous tennants Nick and Jodie, it's too gaudy for my liking lol. I really like the back room of the Rovers in Corrie, it's like a pale yellow wallpaper with poppies on I think.... I think it makes the room look light and airy.... instead of dark and dingy like some where like the Duckworths.

The Duckworths - that horrible wallpaper, teamed up with the bright orange paint in the kitchen(!)

The Barlows - It's just boring - Like Ken

The Queen Vic could also do with a make over or at least some decent lighting.

The Battersby's is also one of the worst, nothing matches and the worst thing in the living room is Les' grotty armchair!

I was hoping that when all their stuff ended up at the skip that is was because they were giving the Battersby house a makeover....... no such luck.

For me, it has to be Pauline Fowler's front room in EE. Its dark, dingy, horrifically old fashioned and the sort of room you'd walk into and want to hang yourself its so depressing.
Jack and Vera in Corrie have a tasteless living room but for sheer depressing cruddiness, it has to be Chez Fowler ...

Stan and Hilda Ogden's - the muriel, the flying ducks - say no more.
