When will it launch?
Sky Anytime will begin rolling out on Virgin Media’s TV On Demand service on the afternoon and evening of Tuesday October 11th.
What will it be called?
‘Sky Anytime on Virgin Media’ will be the official name for the service on the Virgin Media platform.
What will it carry?
When it launches in early October, ‘Sky Anytime on Virgin Media’ will carry programs from the Sky
Channels that are available through Virgin Media’s TV service:
Sky 1, Sky Living, Sky Arts, Sky News XL TV Subs in TV Choice SD & HD
Sky Movies Sky Movies Collection Subscribers SD
Sky Sports (From Late October) Sky Sports Collection Subscribers SD
What can we expect to see on launch day?
The Sky Anytime Service will grow quite rapidly in the first month, with around 70hrs representing most of the channels beginning to load through on October 11th, and then dozens of hours being added each and every day until it reaches full volume late in October.
How many hours of programs will there eventually be?
By the end of October there will be several hundred hours of TV Shows and Movies available to watch instantly, a selection that will be refreshed with fresh programs every week.
I notice that Sky Sports isn’t launching until the end of October – why’s that?
Well spotted - whilst we’re very excited about the Sky Sports offering for ‘Sky Anytime On Virgin Media’ we wanted to focus on getting the Movies and Entertainment Channels up and running first with a full selection of content. Sky Sports programs will be available from the end of October.
I also notice that there won’t be HD Movies or Sport at launch – what’s that all about?
Because of the sheer volume of Movies available through ‘Sky Anytime On Virgin Media’ we’ve had to do some additional work to allow us to carry all of them in glorious HD. We expect to be able to add HD Movies and Sports to the offering within a couple of months of launch, but will let you know as soon as we have a confirmed date.
Where can I find ‘Sky Anytime On Virgin Media’ in the TV On Demand menus?
For regular users of VOD, this should be quite straightforward and for most of the channels there’ll be a couple of ways to access the content. The locations will be the same on both TiVo and existing boxes, and below are the most straightforward ways to access:
Sky 1, Sky LIVING, Sky Arts & Sky News
Home > On Demand & Catch Up > TV Choice On Demand > TV Choice XL > By Channel > Sky Anytime
Sky Movies
Home > On Demand & Catch Up > Movies On Demand > Sky Movies
Sky Sports (Coming late October)
Home > On Demand & Catch Up > TV Choice On Demand > Sky Movies & Sky Sports
And will Sky Anytime also be available on the Virgin Media Player?
Yes it will – customers will have access to pretty much all the same programs through Virgin Media Player shortly following the launch of the TV On Demand service. Whilst we don’t yet have a confirmed date, we expect the Sky Anytime on Virgin Media Player to launch around seven days after the TV service. There will be a further update to this document when that date is confirmed. To watch, go to:

I hear there are some other changes planned for Player too?
Indeed there are. Remember back in April when TV Choice L was launched on TV On Demand, with a bunch of fabulous shows from the likes of Nickelodeon, MTV and Comedy Central, all free for TVL Customers? Well the wonderful news is that the very same shows will shortly also be available to TVL customers through Virgin Media Player too. Accessing the content will be exactly the same for TVL customers as it has been for TVXL. This new feature for Virgin Media Player will launch the same day as Sky Anytime on Virgin Media Player.
Right, so I’m excited – what sort of great programs and films will I be able to watch in October?
A wonderful and varied selection – a taster below:
From Sky1 you’ll have Ross Kemp’s Return to Afghanistan; a double hit of Spartacus with both ‘Blood and Sand’ and ‘Gods Of The Arena’, UK Dramas ‘Thorne’ & ‘The Take’ as well as Ricky Gervais & Stephen Merchant’s fantastic ‘An Idiot Abroad’
There’s a fantastic selection from Sky Living, including ‘Katie’, ‘Hot in Cleveland,’ ‘Four Weddings’ & ‘The Hunks’.
For those looking for something a little more cultural, Sky Arts has classic comedy from the ‘Saturday Night Live’ crew, a glimpse into the musician’s mind with ‘Songbook’, something a little racier in ‘Sex and the Silver Screen’, and some fantastic live music including ‘Queen Rock Montreal’ and ‘Hard Rock Calling 2010’.
Best of all is Sky Movies where October premieres will include Robert Downey Jr and Zach Galifianakis in ‘Road Trip’, teenage vampire-fest ‘I am Number Four’, as well as classic Disney titles ‘Mary Poppins’ and ‘101 Dalmations’. There will be hundreds more added across the month too, from ’Avatar’ to ‘Zombieland’.
How will ‘Sky Anytime On Virgin Media’ differ from Sky Anytime and Sky Anytime+ on the Sky Platform?
For the channels that Virgin Media carry (Sky1, Sky Living, Sky Arts, Sky News, Sky Movies & Sky Sports) ‘Sky Anytime On Virgin Media’ will carry pretty much all the same programs as the Sky Anytime and Sky Anytime+ service on the Sky Platform. There may be a very small number of exceptions owing to some rights clearances.
