Just wanted to add that I don't agree with this either.

I said on the other thread that Baz Lurhmann would be my choice. He was very good when he was on DWTS (Michael Flatley was the opposite).

Peeps might not know his mother was a ballroom dance teacher and he danced when he was young. The stage show and film of Strictly Ballroom were inspired by his own experiences.

I wouldn't mind Shirley Ballas either.

I'd prefer it not be a former pro because it would cause too much fuss on here!

Ah, but you see...Shirley Ballas > Len = no go

I didn't know Baz Luhrmann had been on DWTS - that would've been a great pick. I shall hereby stop bothering to defend the idea that Jennifer Grey has any merit as a judge, go and start a 'Why couldn't they have got Baz' thread and prostrate myself in front of DavidJames before kissing his Argentine Tango-ing feet.

The song Yes has a jive tempo. Lisa and Brendan used it for their slowquickstep a couple of years ago & I found it an odd choice for that as i'd always imagined it as a jive.

Please don't go that far...we'll never hear the end of it from DJ!

Why are Shirley & Len a no go? Please spill the beans!

I immediately think of the song Yes too, because in the DD group dance, they did that in the beginning and it has some jive kicks and flicks. I think Robbie and Ola will do a great job of jive to that song. It's slightly slower in tempo for a jive, but that'll give Robbie a little more time to perfect his kicks and flicks, assuming his footie skill comes in handy here.

Maybe she's too good? Len is worried she might actually replace him for real?

I thought Baz Lurhaman was an inspired choice on DWTS...I didnt see Michael Flately when he did it but hes not my cup of tea anyway.

I am now going to withdraw from this thread....and add someone to my blocked list.

Baz is busy filming The Great Gatsby however maybe he could fill in for Len next year if he takes a break again.

This thread turned rather nasty rather quickly

I though this was the friendly corner of the internet, can't we all just get along please?

I'll link you all to Widdy videos - and don't think I haven't got the Jan Ravens melt-down to hand.....

That means Brendan has choreographed (at least) 3 songs from Dirty Dancing as I believe his and Kelly's rumba was to She's Like The Wind.

Jennifer Grey has, *ahem*, had a bit of work done.
How will we know it's her when she arrives?
What's the password?

I wonder how much time in his head Brendan spent as Johnny Castle when he was growing up?

I think it will be interesting to see what she has to say - let's give her a chance. Plus, she might give Alesha a run for her money.

Sorry - another person here who isn't happy. I would rather they got in another professional with ballroom dance credentials to replace Len for the week - afterall we get a panel for one week with no qualified ballroom/latin judge on it for a show that is primarily still meant to be about ballroom and latin dancing. My understanding is that despite what he claims, Craig does not hold the relevant dance exam awards with the body he claims to be with, so he can't really fill that role. I'm sure they could have used one of the pros from a former series for one week without the boards combusting (okay maybe that's too much to hope for ).

They will be re naming the show to DWTS soon

This is absolutely atrocious IMO. She knows nothing about dance ffs!!

Len is the professional judge and they replace him with another Alesha for the week. Pathetic.

Why not put some top judges who knows what they are talking about. Just because she is famous.

Sorry peeps lol. Very annoyed at this.

I am worried that soon,

SCD judges will be made up of Cheryl Cole / Alesha Dixon / Jennifer Grey

Just talentless wannabes who knows nothing about judging a dance competition. Keep this up and I am switching off BBC.

I hope Craig stays on the show. He is the only permo judges who is worthy of judging who I cannot see getting axed any time soon.

Len's going to be sitting on a beach in sunny Venice Beach, California while the rest of the SCD crew are in the grey and cold UK.

It will be the finals week of DWTS and Len didn't want the pressure of having to fly back and forth that week.
