I think that SCD is a very well produced show. It is nice, pleasant entertainment and is why it's doing well. Also the celebrities are likeable and the judges are not as self obsessed as the ones on X-Factor. All in all, if the production values of SCD and the fantastic singers and musicians, remain as excellent as they are, SCD will out perform X-Factor for the entire series.

Uh, what more is there to say? It did about as well as the past few Saturdays, which is not very well as it turns out.

But the low rating Saturday show started on C4 and this was always going to be a pattern that repeated itself on C5.

I wonder how Misfits will do tonight. Seems a strange decision by E4 to move it to Sundays up against TOWIE and the last 15 minutes of Downton Abbey - and IMO the opener really missed Nathan and the new powers are pretty shit - just wasn't feeling it tonight.

And another returning digital hit later on Tuesday is Him and Her, which rather quietly did very well for BBC3 during it's first series. Tool Academy also back on E4 this week - looks like Tuesday is going to be reality night for them with Shipwrecked, Sorority Girls and Tool Academy, though Shipwrecked only managed 0.34m last week. Any chance of the figures for the T4 airing today being available tomorrow?

Misfits was odd. I only learned it was on tonight...well tonight. Was surprised. Its an awful slot for one thing!

It was shit as well which didn't help. The writers failed to introduce Rudy - felt forced and suddenly he knows all of them when really we haven't learnt anything to connect him and the other characters. Poorly done and confusing at times.

New powers are AWFUL. Only good power was the blonde girl who started off a great character but became the usual 'psycho girl' that Misfits does all the ****ing time. She had a great power - shame.

Kelly is only one with a good power - and thats only cause its a bit fun. The rest are odd. Don't get them at all.

So I think low tonight - poor advertising for it and really bad slot. And I think the series may slowly die over the next few weeks. Which is ****ing annoying as series 1/2 are some of the best TV produced in the UK

Also on Him & Her - a moddest iplayer success if I remember as well.

Flopped when it was shown on BBC ONE though with 10% shares and very low AI scores.

Yeah but it was a BBC Three show - lets be fair. Niche is the term.

Wasn't it just?

The interview and interrogation of Clarkson's ex (who admittedly came over really badly) was toe curlingly awkward.

That should probably read when you compared its ratings to a few years ago before it really broke out as a mega-hit.

Ant and Dec although known for being in Byker Grove did SMTV Live with Cat Deeley which proved they were capable presenter.”

I'd be against Fearne Cotton as host of The Voice purely because she fronted Sky's Must Be The Music and I think that's a show they should avoid comparisons with.

It is however an interesting point you raise regarding just how many presenters have come up through kids TV over the years. I would also add to that a reminder of just how many fantastic writers have come up through kids television (Steven Moffat, Russell T Davis and Paul Abbott all basically started in kids TV). We really do need to invest more and give more prominence to kids television again.

The utterly weird E4 and Channel 4 scheduling continues I see. Wasn't this pulling in 1.5+ million (inc +1) by the end of series two? You'd think they'd treat its return as a bigger deal and actually schedule it decently. I really don't understand what's going on at Channel 4 at large as of late.

Looking at Disney, Nickelodeon and to an extent Cartoon Network, they succeeded in creating shows that are not only watched but also have extentions with toys, clothing, music and it is something that The BBC and ITV should inspire, maybe teaming up with Disney or Nick to create a British iCarly or Hannah Montana and animation wise, there isn't much for older kids in the vein of Thundercats or Young Justice although those have the backing of Warner Bros who own these properties.

I'm surprised ITV never thought of reviving Thunderbirds either as a live action show or a CGI series, the film while awful did show the potential of how a CGI/Live action would work. The Avengers is another one but the right for that belong to Studiocanal.

Off-topic, but hopefully something to make people smile on a Monday morning, as the Dr Who cast and crew thank the inspirations behind the show (with more than a passing nod to Victoria Wood).

Anyone think a rise in Ratings for last night's result on X Factor?

Does anyone know the official ratings for SCD, XF and Merlin (Oct 22)? Are they delayed?

It will certainly be well up on Saturday, as many people are this year clearly only bothering to watch the Sunday "reprise" and the eviction.

So even with 12m, admittedly down on 09 and 10, the press headlines will still be "TXF in crisis", no matter what spin the ITV press office, twitterers, and Cowell try to put on it.

Tee hee....

The results show is usually the highest rated programme of the week. And I think that will continue.

More likely to be the ITV press office trying to fix TXF figures

Boo. But if Antiques Roadshow has beaten TXF, I understand the need for a recount.

That is some crap numbers for Ringer. What possessed Ten to even air Ringer there, when it is clearly suited for ELEVEN? Great numbers for Nine.

Whilst the wait for new data continues, Broadcast is catching up on the weekend's events.

Firstly, on Friday, The Bachelor's finale:

Quote:
“It peaked with an audience of 1.54m (9.29%) at 10.50pm as Henson chose Carianne Barrow as his girlfriend, according to overnight Barb figures supplied by Attentional.

The final was marginally above the series debut of 1.33m (7.76%) viewers and brought the series average to 1.19m (6.57%) over its ten-part run. It was well above C5’s slot average of 1.05m (5.59%) viewers for the past 12 months.”

And on Saturday, Strictly's extraordinary win over X Factor:

Quote:
“The BBC1 dancing competition continues to go from strength-to-strength and a spooky Halloween theme helped it waltz off with a series high audience of 10.16m (42.67%) from 6.30pm to 8.10pm.

In contrast, The X Factor dropped to a series low of 9.58m (38.77%) viewers from 8pm to 9.45pm across ITV1 and ITV1 HD, in a week that saw judge Kelly Rowland pull out for health reasons and ITV’s director of entertainment Elaine Bedell rally to the show’s defence.

When the two shows overlapped for 10 minutes from 8pm, Strictly’s audience hit 10.69m (39.88%), while The X Factor could only muster 7.89m (29.46%).”

Wow, SCD beat TXF by THREE MILLION during the clash!!

How unfortunate that todays overnights have been delayed so the ITV spin machine cant leap into action. I'm sure it will later though!
