looking at the box score, your right that was a good game.

A shame its not on British TV anymore.
I presume you mean Terrestrial TV as the World Series (indeed all of the playoffs) are shown live still (and in HD) on ESPN America.

And, thankfully, unlike when it was on Five, if a game runs for hours until around 6 am it is not suddenly cut off at the very end so as to screen Thomas the Tank Engine.

I think the Sunday November 13th X Factor ratings will be huge for this year anyway the guest they have on are enough to get a peak of atleast 15 million.

Lady Gaga- Performing new single and is huge world wide star

One Direction-All the teen girls who stopped watching will watch to see them premier there new single and do the first live performance of it.

although I personally dislike both I think the ratings should be decent for them.

I'm sure everyone who has sky+ does what I do and watch SCD until it ends and then watch X Factor (fastforwarding through the intro, ads and most of the VTs until I have caught up with real time).
In our household it's SCD until the last dance, then the Sky plussed TV Burp, then chase play X Factor. We just about catch up.

Which says something about how bloated The X Factor performance shows are I'm sure.

RZT and TrickyTree explained recently that ITV1 HD and ITV1 ratings are separated by BARB, because the channels have different regional variants. The two cannot ever be added together by BARB until ITV1 HD has the same regional variants as ITV1. This is because advertisers would be paying for the wrong viewership in each region.
It's the same reason why they didn't take part in the HD EPG swap on Sky. You still get the regional SD versions on 101-105.

ITV2/3/4HD and E4HD swapped as they're single region channels for content and advertising.

ITV1HD currently have four regions on Sky (London, Meridian South, Cental West and Granada) two on Freesat (London and Granada), don't know about DTT/Virgin.

I'm in Devon and get Central. So loads of ads for businesses in the West Midlands. So none of the SW businesses are getting their ads into homes watching ITV1 HD. They can't be happy losing loads of ABC1s (69% of Sky HD subscribers) and 18-34 (40%) and males (61%).

Final schedules: Fairground Attractions starts Thursday 17th November at 8pm on Channel 5 (HD), followed at 9pm by all new Mentalist. The Great Escape's rare terrestrial outing moves to Sunday 13th at 5:25pm.

More news on the other channels later when DigiGuide updates.

It would be an idea, except The Voice will probably have that approach so it would look like The X Factor was copying in desperation.

To be honest I think The X Factor has suffered from loads of what, on their own, would've been minor issues but put together have resulted in a big problem this year:

1) The panel - no way should Simon and Cheryl have both left; one maybe, but not both. The new panel did ok in the edited auditions, but are struggling in the lives.

2) The last audition being Ceri - that just left a bad taste in the mouth for many. She should've been added as part of a montage or left out entirely.

3) The Bootcamp cut - what was the point of that? Manufactured drama at it's worse; completely over the top and unfair.

4) The Goldie saga - so the show was going to go for another joke act...looking back it may have injected some live into the show but Goldie saw the problem.

5) Frankie going through - Unlike other 'joke' acts he has hardly any redeeming features. He's not love to hate, he's hate to hate.

6) The Live cut - 16 acts and the early favourite didn't even get through to the public vote?! They should've involved the public in some way down the line but failed to do so.

7) The perecived lack of talent - many people say this is a poor year compared to last year. I can't see it myself when looking at the 2010 show but the perception is there.

8) The bullying accusation - If that was manufactured it was a massive error as again it caused more bad taste. I wonder whether they're trying to air Misha's dirty laundry early so the press don't have anything to beat her with later but it could've been done better.

9) Kelly's disappearance - the show did not need to have patch something up in it's current state yet that's exactly what it did, the timing is dire as well, being straight after the bullying accusation.

One of these on their own would've caused a slightly story but wouldn't have hit the show too severely (except maybe the panel issue). But it's a perfect storm added all together.

I would agree with most if not all of that, plus...

The judges panel - yes, too many changes for viewers to handle - only 1 out of 4 judges left from last year - crazy!

The clash - ITV should have swallowed their pride and kept X Factor away from SCD right from the start - a stupid move to overlap.

The length - Shows 2 hrs. plus again are madness - tighten the whole thing up and reduce it to 1 1/2 - 1 3/4 hrs. max.

The ads - There has been a lot of negative publicity about this too. ITV have overcooked their goose here.

ITV will need to sit down and think through the whole thing for next year - Gary is already making noises about thinking if he would do another series (ermm - would he be asked?) - I agree with other posters that I can't see Kelly returning, I think Gary won't either - that leaves us with Louis and 3 others - poss. Alexandra Burke to replace Kelly, a.n. other to replace Tulisa (though she is doing fine with her goups) and the return of Simon Cowell....

The longer term success of the show maybe can't hinge on Cowell being there, but if they are going to squeeze a few more years out of it then maybe he should be back.

Have some US numbers for Sunday to tide you over...

US Ratings Sunday October 30

Without the World Series to challenge it Sunday Night Football once again led NBC to an easy Sunday night victory.

In more interesting news Once Upon A Time held up brilliantly in week two equalling its overnight performance and dropping down just a tenth from finals last week. We’ll see if it can manage another upward adjustment and pull off 100% retention which would be astonishing. Once Upon A Time also pushed both Desperate Housewives and Pan Am up a tenth vs. last week but it’s too little too late for Pan Am I imagine.

Over on Fox the latest instalment of The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror pulled in a 4.0 but that didn't help Allan Gregory it looks to be another swing and a miss for Animation Domination. Family Guy was down 9% from its last original.

The CBS line-up can basically be ignored because of football overrun.

ABC
7PM: Once Upon A Time[r] – 1.2 [5.20]
8PM: Once Upon A Time – 3.9 [11.64]
9PM: Desperate Housewives – 3.1 [9.28]
10PM: Pan Am – 1.9 [5.59]

CBS
7PM: NFL Overrun / 60 Minutes – 6.8 [23.53]
8PM: 60 Minutes / Amazing Race – 3.5 [14.29]
9PM: Amazing Race / The Good Wife – 2.3 [10.12]
10PM: The Good Wife / CSI: Miami – 2.0 [10.14]

Fox
7PM: The Cleveland Show[r] – 1.9 [4.84]
7:30PM: The Simpsons[r] – 2.5 [5.41]
8PM: The Simpsons – 4.0 [8.01]
8:30PM: Allen Gregory – 2.4 [4.74]
9PM: Family Guy – 3.2 [5.97]
9:30PM: The Cleveland Show – 2.3 [4.63]

NBC
7PM: Football Night in America – 3.4 [9.09]
8PM: Football Night in America – 5.9 [15.14]
8:30PM: Sunday Night Football – 8.5 [21.98]
9PM: Sunday Night Football – 8.5 [21.26]
10PM: Sunday Night Football – 7.6 [18.16]

As a general point regarding timeshifts...

Saturday 22nd October Overnights
BBC One
18:25- Strictly Come Dancing - 9.45m (38.7%) timeshift 0.90m
20:15- Merlin - 5.52m (21.4%) timeshift 1.44m
21:00- Casualty - 4.23m (16.6%) timeshift 1.00m

BBC Two
20:15- Dad's Army: 2.02m (7.8%) timeshift 0.04m

ITV1
17:30- You've Been Framed! - 3.16m (17.6%) timeshift -0.03m, excluding HD
18:30- All Star Family Fortunes - 3.98m (16.9%) timeshift 0.06m, excluding HD
19:30- Harry Hill's TV Burp - 4.70m (18.6%) timeshift -0.12m, excluding HD
20:00- The X Factor - 9.77m (38.0%) timeshift 1.29m
21:55- The Jonathan Ross Show - 3.48m (17.4%) timeshift -0.04m, excluding HD

Channel 4
21:00- The Hurt Locker: 1.42m (6.8%) timeshift 0.20m

Channel 5
21:55- Big Brother: 938k (4.7%) timeshift 0.16m

Even including HD for ITV, the timeshifts it seems are very small, while a good thing as it seems most are watching live it's also a bad thing too, unless a lot more people are watching ITV1 HD nowadays.

Odd things. Although it's probably due to the clock changes, more likely.

Brilliant news for ABC. Probably the best they've had all season! And really unexpected, at least as far as I'm concerned. I thought OUAT had 'ratings bomb' written all over it.

Thats a major swing that looks like it has come out trumps for Paul Lee - they clearly put a lot of thought into the type of show that could prosper there, and have come out with female-freindly fantasy with Disney written all over it. With the benefit of hindsight, it does make sense...

Poor start for Allen Gregory. Can't see it lasting long. And is it me, or does the Seth MacFarlane double look very lacklustre in the 9pm hour?

Are you using the overnights which include same day timeshift? All those who chase play X Factor and skip the ads are in the overnights aren't they?

Surely The X Factor should be up to 2nd with its Sunday 2nd October official rating (ITV1 + ITV1HD)... ie:

01 - 13.95m - THE ROYAL WEDDING (29/04/11) - BBC1/HD/BBC NEWS
02 - 12.92m - THE X FACTOR (02/10/11) - ITV1/HD

04 - 12.56m - CORONATION STREET (14/02/11) - ITV1/HD

Yes, I'm using the usual overnights, as you well know the 'raw' overnights are not released by media websites (only by trickytree1979 on here!).

Surely The X Factor should be up to 2nd with its Sunday 2nd October official rating (ITV1 + ITV1HD)... ie:
You are correct, have changed it above.

Very strong week for Hollyoaks on E4...

1 HOLLYOAKS (MON 1900) 922k
2 HOLLYOAKS (WED 1900) 834k
3 HOLLYOAKS (TUE 1900) 825k
4 HOLLYOAKS (FRI 1900) 736k
5 HOLLYOAKS (THU 1901) 704k

The above figures compare very favourably to the same week in 2010 where only one episode made E4's top 10 with 427k. For a higher rating equivalent week you have to go back to w/c October 20 2008:

1 HOLLYOAKS (Mon 18:59) 1.182m
2 HOLLYOAKS (Tue 19:00) 1,116m
3 HOLLYOAKS (Wed 18:59) 1.039m
4 HOLLYOAKS (Thu 18:59) 826k
5 HOLLYOAKS (Fri 19:00) 704k

Source: BARB.
I will assume that October 2008 was around the time that the Niall storyline and the church explosion occurred, thus the excellent ratings. That was at a time when the C4 episodes were regularly achieving 2 million and above.

I honestly can’t see the appeal of Once Upon A Time at all. I think it’s awful and filled with some clunky and heavy handed dialogue its painful but people are apparently eating it up and with hindsight that Sunday 8PM slot has been a stroke of genius. It’s not enough to reverse the overall problems at ABC though they really need a strong midseason performance but I’m not sure if they’re going to be able to manage that since it looks like NBC are going to throw everything they’ve got behind their midseason schedule and whilst it might not look like it they do have a lot to throw.

And it’s not just you that 9PM hour on Fox is very soft.

As a general point regarding timeshifts...

Saturday 22nd October Overnights
BBC One
18:25- Strictly Come Dancing - 9.45m (38.7%) timeshift 0.90m
20:15- Merlin - 5.52m (21.4%) timeshift 1.44m
21:00- Casualty - 4.23m (16.6%) timeshift 1.00m

BBC Two
20:15- Dad's Army: 2.02m (7.8%) timeshift 0.04m

ITV1
17:30- You've Been Framed! - 3.16m (17.6%) timeshift -0.03m, excluding HD
18:30- All Star Family Fortunes - 3.98m (16.9%) timeshift 0.06m, excluding HD
19:30- Harry Hill's TV Burp - 4.70m (18.6%) timeshift -0.12m, excluding HD
20:00- The X Factor - 9.77m (38.0%) timeshift 1.29m
21:55- The Jonathan Ross Show - 3.48m (17.4%) timeshift -0.04m, excluding HD

Channel 4
21:00- The Hurt Locker: 1.42m (6.8%) timeshift 0.20m

Channel 5
21:55- Big Brother: 938k (4.7%) timeshift 0.16m

Even including HD for ITV, the timeshifts it seems are very small, while a good thing as it seems most are watching live it's also a bad thing too, unless a lot more people are watching ITV1 HD nowadays.
Good timeshift for Casualty. Shows that having a Merlin-lead in has accounted for an increase in ratings. The hospital drama is in good health and should theoretically be hitting between 6 and 7 million after TXF ends, and possibly the BBC might be looking at having The Voice as a lead-in to Casualty at 8pm or something, then have the National Lottery Draws after Casualty or after the news, as has been the case recently.

I really hope they don't do that.

I'd actually prefer them to pull Casualty whilst The Voice is on and try to find something 'younger' to pair with it. Post-Voice might just be the best place to try and launch a comedy or two.

Either really. (I was being sarcastic with my original 'irregular' point...)

Really? I think if they shortened Casualty's series, and ended it around April time with a good fresh revamp and with The Voice from perhaps January onwards, it could be good for the BBC. It would be suicide for the BBC to pull Casualty for Saturday nights temporarily as it is a reliable 5-6m performer. As regards to comedy, I think when Corrie goes to Wednesdays, the Thursday 8.30pm slot would be good, maybe on Saturdays at 8pm before Casualty, after TXF ends.
