Talking of 1980s Saturday night TV drama - forget Bergerac, what about this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfIUi...eature=related Classic theme tune, if nothing else. ![]() (the clip is self evidently a summer repeat - I'm guessing a Thursday at 9.30pm, as that was when Entertainment USA aired on BBC2, I think - but the first run eps were always on Saturdays..) ![]() Surprising they were still repeating Juliet Bravo then, because it had finished a few years before (1985?).

Note, DCI Banks rating (or share?) is wrong looking at the other figures.
A 19.7% share going off Big Brother's 9pm figures gives DCI Banks 4.66m, a 5.12m figure gives it a 21.6% share. Either way, I think that may have just secured it a recommission. |

Big Brother did decently (however I did hope for 1.8m for the first show). The first rating was the 2nd highest eviction rating of the series (and third highest rating of the entire series). The second show was the highest eviction interview rating of the series. The Bachelor ended decently, it was very static.
Great for Idiot Abroad. |

Are we sure that DCI banks Rating is wrong. DS haven't changed it yet?

The DCI Banks rating suggests 25.99m were watching in that hour, which can't be correct. Therefore either the 5.12m bit or the 19.7% bit or both bits are wrong. My guess is that share is correct but it actually had ~4.63m. 5.12m, as reported, seems quite high compared to the low 4's figures it's had recently and I don't think it would've risen that much. DS will hopefully change that figure soon. |

Looks like The Comic Strip's political comedy plus the atrocious Celeb Masterchef lead in dented HIGNFY last night. Conversely, the audience that did tune in for HIGNFY lifted WILTY a little - good combo there.
I wonder how QI did - not sure it's ideal scheduling having them all in a row, given that the target audience for all 3 is similar and they must be expecting people to watch all 3. |

DCI Banks rating has been changed by DS. It had: 4.62m (19.7%) , +1: 225k (1.2%)
Source: DS That's a series high for the show. |

So still a series high for DCI Banks then, and it won its slot quite easily, so they should be pretty happy with that. I think it now has a reasonable chance of being recommissioned, whereas I wasn't too sure last week.

I think it will come back for a 3rd series
Usually I say, a drama averaging between 5-5.5m in the officials for BBC1 and ITV1 is a 50/50 decision. But bearing in mind it's airing on a Friday when ratings are generally lower than the rest of the week (5m on a Friday is equivalent to about 5.5-6.0m on a Monday) and doing a decent job in a difficult usual sub-3.5m slot for them, it may well get another series. |

I think so too. When it launched with 4.4m, I thought given the usual drop off for dramas, it would end up rating in the (mid to high) 3's and subsequently be cancelled. But it's generally held its audience throughout the series, apart from the SCD clash episode understandably, and with timeshift it looks set for a consolidated series average of about 5m (5.3m inc +1).

Anway can I Ask How meny people were watching TV last week. I wondered if the cold weather got more people inside last night? |

I don't agree it's solely designed to 'prop up' a failing night - if anything the move to Thursdays has actually damaged the show. It loses its momentum in the ratings and consistently loses out on a Thursday night to EastEnders when it more often than not tops the night on a Monday and Friday. The move may well be to lift Wednesdays but more importantly it's to help Corrie which has been really badly affected by the Thursday night move. |

which leads me to wonder why Thursday is so bad for Corrie, are some Corrie fans really against watching it on a Thursday?

A bit more like it from Big Brother last night. It looks like the tactic of keeping the eviction announcement for the 11pm show paid off, hitting a new high in that timeslot. I don't think they should do it again however- it made sense last night given the result.
