I was amazed that shows ratings managed to hold so steady considering the million and one things wrong with it. They ought to use this opportunity to go back to the drawing board and come back with something that doesn't rely on z-list celebrities and 1990's production values.

Yes, if there are a large number of nominees they can partly satisfy the 9pm audience with the reveal of the 'saved' housemates one by one, which hopefully doesn't leave viewers feeling manipulated or cheated by having to wait another hour. Not for normal two-way battles though.

Should get around 1m in the officials. There's a Sunday teatime repeat at 5.30pm.

A League of Their Own had 676k, which was up about 200k week-on-week.

That's a better performance from Big Brother, but I think they need to forgo a couple of big evictions as it were to get rid of minor characters - I can name at least three HMs who I don't see the point of now from an entertainment point of view. Also, while it was up on previous weeks, it was seemingly in fifth place between 9-9.30pm which is probably not what Channel 5 were looking for when they bought the show.

ITV1 will be happy with their evening - DCI Banks did well and Wild Britain held up opposite EastEnders. Have I Got News For You isn't the show it was but it still did ok; Would I Lie For You? held up but did little more. The Comic Strip Presents did well and may have hurt BBC One.Autumnwatch performed well for BBC Two.

The second Coronation Street seems low. The first episode, EastEnders and Emmerdale did ok. It'll be interesting to see how Hollyoaks does next week but that's a strong First Look figure for it on E4. The teatime soaps seem to be seeing a boost now the nights are closing in.

Channel 4 may not have to air it. There should be a clause in their contract for the show that allows them to get out of it if the 13 episode order isn't produced.


Yeah it was incredibly obvious that they'd spent basically no money on The Magicians. It is however one of those shows that has a good format hidden away in there somewhere its just a case of trying to find it.

I dont know about that, C4 did air CBS show Clubhouse despite only 5 episodes airing on CBS. That said another 6 aired on another channel.

Well, Charnham, until ITV rearranged their Champions League contract, it was a given that the soap would be shown at 7.30 on Wednesdays. I am pleased it is going back to its traditional slot next June as it seems ITV1 falter in this slot now when there's no football. Also I would suggest axeing the extra Friday episode and the pointless Saturday omnibus, which achieves zilch in the ratings.
On a different note moving the ECL to a Tuesday on ITV1 will give the station something to shout about in the ratings.

They won't axe the second episode. They would have to find another program that gets them 7-8m

It should be reduced to four nights a week: Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7.30pm brings a nice consistency (all at 7.30pm, two day gap between each episode, gives opportunity for momentum to build nicely through the week).

And RIP Betty. You will be sorely missed on Coronation Street.

I concur, this was the line up the show successfully had 10 years ago. I can see where Samthefootball is coming from in his post about the extra episodes getting 7-8 milion viewers, but how about this for a curved ball for next year? Maybe slot the extra XF episode into Fridays from 8.30 to 10.00 and move Coronation St back to a Sunday.

Well we've seen haven't we that the seller usually has the upperhand when it comes to selling the rights to US shows, although I can't think of recent examples of anything less than 13 episodes airing here when it comes to axed shows.

On the same day last year, the soaps had 6.7m, 8.4m, 8.5m and 8.7m (time order) - so there's a few drops year-on-year.

Thankyou, Corrie could find a temporary home on a Sunday at 7.30 when TXF is on and the Friday shows at 8.30 could pull in 10 million viewers and put BBC One on its back. After all, this was always the time when LWT wheeled out its entertainment big guns and TXF is a son of these shows. Also Corrie on a Sunday would be a welcome ratings hit for ITV1.

Point of Rescue and The Oaks have been aired but were renamed to 'Case Sensitive' and 'Marchlands'. Angels of The North has been renamed 'Eternal Law' and will air early next year. Both of those factual shows have aired. London Zoo aired on Tuesdays at 8pm last November whilst Man To Manta aired in January.

I'm not sure - it's an awkward time slot (not following directly after EastEnders doesn't help), and there's a big gap between the Monday and Thursday editions, not to mention the familiarity of the Wednesday night slot which Corrie had occupied since it started in 1960. I think long-term viewers appreciated that familiarity so it was always going to be a big ask when they shifted it to Thursday nights.
