The schedules aren't finalised until tomorrow. ITV1's Saturday night timings will most likely change.

Interesting that they don't even mention Charlie's Angels.

Homeland is the standout pickup. Looking forward to that.

I did originally put "Villareal v ITV's Favourite Team" because I only saw Man... in the programme listing and I just assumed.

Ah, yeah. Just spotted it now. "Celebrity Chase" is down for a pretty unspectacular 5:30pm slot from Saturday 29th October.

BUT- they are taking it off of weekdays at the same time. That would appear to be a bit of a missed opportunity with Pointless on repeats at the same time.

Its not like it matters, the teams will do it all again in um in um in 3 years, lets say 3, in 3 years time, the BBC can just miss this one, and then in 2015 air that one alot. Of course the 2015 one will seem like a waste of time, when 2018 starts.

At this point I would like point out that I am not David Mitchell”

It could be possible that the BBC may choose to just show the quarters and semis, as well as the finals.

Gives Pointless a big opportunity to build its audience.

Indeed so. It will easily take out Britain's Best Dish which was only doing about 1 million viewers last time IIRC.

ITV obviously don't want to go down the route of showing The Chase all year round mixing repeats & new episodes, and prefer to show a variety of programmes, unlike the BBC who are obviously going to show Pointless with no gap for years.

The size of the series order begs to differ. They've got nothing else that rates well in that slot.

But 6 nights a week of new episodes would be too much. Against Strictly it will be interesting to see how Celebrity Chase gets on.

The 120 episode order is three series worth I believe, and only the first 40 have been filmed so far. There will probably be 40 more early next year and a further 40 later in the year.

Britain's Best Dish normally does OK. The last series averaged 1.5/1.6m in the Spring despite airing through some pretty hot weather. It's normally closer to or at the 2m mark when it airs in September/October, so should get a solid c2m for this November-December run.

To answer a point above - Katherine Jenkins on TV last week (Loose Women possibly, I forget) said that they wanted to end Pop Star to Opera Star on a high so it was not likely to return.

She should be working for the ITV ratings office.

US Ratings Monday October 17

The CBS comedy block comfortably powered CBS to another Monday night win but Two and a Half Men still hasn't found its floor it dropped again this week. Modern Family should comfortably beat it this week. 2 Broke Girls however continues to impress.

Elsewhere Dancing with the Stars was up slightly for ABC (7%) to a 3.2 for the night. I don't imagine that'll be much cause for celebration for ABC. It seems the baseball overrun last week has hit Fox's schedule. Terra Nova was up from last week but below a 3 (bad news for Sky) and House continued to make me think it'll wrap this year.

NBC and The CW both had horrible nights. Although Prime Suspect is repeating much better than expected given how low the Thursday originals are.

ABC
8PM: Dancing with the Stars - 3.0 [16.77]
9PM: Dancing with the Stars - 3.4 [18.22]
10PM: Castle - 2.6 [11.50]

CBS
8PM: How I Met Your Mother - 4.1 [9.77]
8:30PM: 2 Broke Girls - 4.3 [11.29]
9PM: Two and a Half Men - 5.2 [14.85]
9:30PM: Mike & Molly - 3.9 [11.59]
10PM: Hawaii Five-O - 3.1 [10.87]

Fox
8PM: Terra Nova - 2.7 [7.29]
9PM: House - 3.1 [8.37]

NBC
8PM: The Sing-Off - 1.6 [4.62]
9PM: The Sing-Off - 1.5 [4.01]
10PM: Prime Suspect [r] - 0.8 [2.74]

The CW
8PM: Gossip Girl - 0.6 [1.31]
9PM: Hart of Dixie - 0.7 [1.75]

Strong night for CBS there. House must be a disappointment this season numbers wise for Fox.

Just returning to Sunday, I notice Showtime's Dexter fell to a season low 0.7 in the demo against AMC's The Walking Dead's 3.8. That's disappointing. I love both shows, but overall I love Dexter more. If I were Michael C. Hall I'd be keen to get that contract sorted fast, not holding out for a pay increase!

I wouldn't be worried even a little about Dexter at this point. When you factor in the repeats across the week and OnDemand its doing fantastically for Showtime which is why Michael C Hall is in a position to demand $20 million for two more seasons which I suspect would bring Dexter to an end.

Schadenfreude, look how much The Sun used to love BB during its heyday 6 years ago, devoting up to ten pages a day to it, then when its decline became marked, it was time to rubbish it at every opportunity. I daresay if TXF starts to show a ratings decline, then it will be time for it to receive a good old Sun kicking. Also the Daily Stat will no doubt promote some pale Channel 5 imitator at the same time.

Just seen an advert for Paul Merton's Adventures on Sky News in the run up to the 7pm hour. That was a nice surprise!

Hopefully it can tap into the current demand for these shows we've seen with Billy Connolly and Karl Pilkington's programmes in recent weeks.

No surprise about that rating - it was awful. Watched the first 20 minutes or so hoping the show might actually be useful, with advice about job seeking etc, but gave up after the first 'film' following 4 long term unemployed working at a theme park. Thought these people actually wanted a job, but some of them were being very fussy despite not having worked for ages. So instead of being a useful, informative show it was just following some 'lay-abouts' followed by celebrities giving their opinions. They had Stacy Solomon on as a guest - what makes her an expert on job seeking???

Maybe the show got better later on but the first 20 minutes lost me

ITV are crazy going with that time - yet again another overlap and the ITV execs. should just swallow their hard nosed pride and MOVE X Factor back 45 mins. to 8.15pm.

This will just add fat to the fire of the current X Factor ratings Disaster stories - they are on a hiding to nothing with that timing, get it moved and avoid the clash...

A very odd breakdown for Saturday's The X Factor, the majority of the 8pm hour after Strictly finished was above 11 million excluding commercials then after the 9pm hour it dropped below 11m. In fact, the 20:15 to 21:00 average was 10.82m compared to 10.06m from 21:00 to 21:45... odd.

The BB ratings will be interesting tonight. The twist has received an extrenmely negative reaction on DS, Facebook, Twitter, the website, everywhere... even though we still don't know what's going on. Looks like Ch5 are making it up as they go along.

Tonight will either have people tune in to see the twist, or many turn away by the sheer stupidity of the producers and teams ideas.
