Judge Judy has been number 1 for a while now. That show is insanely popular and she gets millions for what amounts to a couple of days work per year.

Its hard to really know what they were expecting with Jeremy Kyle in the US. I suspect the show is cheap enough to produce that they'll stick with it for a couple of years to see if it can find and grow an audience. In the grand scheme of things I don't think that .5 is terrible for a complete unknown launching a new talk show in an incredibly crowded and competitive market.

ITV2 have replaced The X Factor USA tonight with Simon Cowell Uncut: Life Stories at 8 and Harry Hill's TV Burp at 9:30pm.

And I imagine she's much cheaper compared to say Ellen because there is no guests or prizes to give away.

Anderson seems be doing okay, TBH he would have the last person I thought would do a talk show especially with his CNN show and 60 Minutes commitments, I think at one point CBS wanted him to replace Katie Couric.

Maybe they thought he'd be the new Jerry Springer?

DIP is an eight parter. On the basis that a show which gets delayed is usually a sign of it being a turkey, then this is not the case, as if anything, it's arrived early.

Young Herriot it likely to make an appearance during November. I'd suggest that you may see that on Sundays (3 Parts)

The extra ITV soap episodes really suggests to me that I'm a Celebrity is being extended - in some way as there's no reason for the extra episodes.

I've given up on Waterloo Road, the characters don't really interest me to be honest this series.

I think the two extra Corrie episodes on Wednesdays (the one a couple of weeks ago and the other one in two weeks' time) are to make up for the two episodes which will be lost during I'm a Celebrity. During IAC's final week, the elimination shows air between 8.30-10pm usually, therefore Corrie will lose two episodes in that week: Monday 20.30 and Friday 20.30.

As for Emmerdale, its two extra episodes on Wednesday (one last week and one this week) could also be due to I'm a Celebrity. I expect during IAC's final week, Emmerdale's Thursday 20.00 episode will be dropped due to a schedule of: 19.00- Emmerdale, 19.30- Tonight, 20.00- Corrie, 20.30- IAC. It's possible also that the penulimate Thursday of IAC will also be an extended 20.30-22.00 episode, therefore Emmerdale could be dropped that night too. Hence the two extra Wednesday episodes.

I agree. I know several people who have given up as they felt they were strung along by the Amanda Burton departure. The last episode saw her win the day and gave viewers the impression the new run would start with her fight to stay. Next series starts with a brief mention she has gone part way into the episode and yet another major cast change with characters that so far are less than engaging.

They seem to be taking the viewers for granted a bit (and soon taking them for a ride with the forthcoming relocation of the entire show from Rochdale to Scotland!)

There have been some serious miscalculations with what was a well loved 4.5 - 5.5 million viewer hit. And with two more series commissioned it must be a bit worrying.

Does anyone have the exact rating for Emmerdale yesterday please? Was it 6.6 or 6.7 without +1? I thought it was 6.7 but I misread the DS article.

The drama has had one revamp too far. WR has had several revamps and several new characters that come in between series. I think the cast of last series was excellent but now that's ruined and we have dull and two-dimensional characters in their places. They've toyed with a reliable 5 million performer.

Partly because it's in a tough slot. Pretty much everything so far in that 20.30 Wednesday slot has underperformed or flopped. The problem is that lead-in is quite low anyway due to Waterloo Road not being at full strength at the moment, and the BBC News Update in between the two shows gives WR viewers more of an opportunity and time to switch channels (thus the direct lead-in for PD is even lower than the c4m WR is getting atm), and because Planet Dinosaur starts at 8.30pm which is halfway through every other TV show on other channels, it's difficult to lure audiences from those other channels midway through programmes they're already watching.

Maybe ITV are praying that IACGMOOH's revival last year continues this year, so are devoting more time to it. Actually November is ITV's big hitting month as DA and TXF are drawing to a climax and IAC averaged 9.8 million last series.

They might launch it on Sunday 20th November but give it an extended run into the second week of December, in which case, ITV could have a massive week in TXF and IACGMOOH finishing on the same week (the second week of December).

I agree. I have been a big fan of the show since it started but this series has been boring imo and I just dont like the new cast members. The new head is just not likeable like all the previous ones.

I'd like to see Denise Welch and Amanda Burton return and they should give Grantly a big storyline.

You raise a good point about Frozen Planet. Generally speaking Wednesdays are quite weak for BBC1 and the way things are at the moment could cause Frozen Planet to take a hit. It's only really Waterloo Road that holds up 4m + audience on pre-watershed Wednesdays and even that is doing poorly at the moment.


Ah yes, that all makes sense. ITV have definitely put them in that Wednesday slot for a reason though. I am thinking they not only want Waterloo Road out of the 19:30 slot but they want it gone completely so they can run their own 8pm drama on Wednesday.


I have often wondered what the "90 second update" does to the ratings, there must surely be quite a lot of turn off during it. I don't recall seeing a drop in ratings when it was introduced though.

But if that is the case, where would Waterloo Road move next? Maybe when Corrie moves back to Wednesdays, it can take the Thursday 8.30pm slot but possibly revamped as a half-hour show instead of an hour-long show. But it might allow for a clean slate for BBC1 on Wednesday nights.

No, because it's normally at 7:58pm which on four of five weekdays is either before or after EastEnders. It's only when it is on at 8:28pm that there is an issue after Waterloo Road.

Why is Strictly Clashing with X Factor again. Surely BBC Could have moved Strictly to 6:00 and and there would not have been a clash.

The same argument applies to ITV, The X Factor could easily be on from 8:15pm to 10:10pm - it has finished as late as 10:10pm before, hell, in 2008 the results shows didn't finish till nearly 11:00pm!

Yeah the result shows were on quite late actually in 2008. If I take Saturday 22 Nov 2008, the result show did not start until almost 10pm. But it was almost 2 million down on the actual performance show earlier in the evening:

The Evening News and Early Show perform badly but CBS Sunday Morning and 60 Minutes perform excellently, and Face the Nation is competitive with Meet The Press/This Week. CBS's News division does at least do well one day of the week

I agree, I think if it wasn't for the very young audience (i.e school age kids who watch it because it's about a school and because they think some of the characters are 'fit'), the programme would be in a much worse shape ratings wise than it is.

Anyone a bit older who actually cares about character progression and continuity has been annoyed with the show for years. This series with the new unknown cast, poorer child actors and repetative storylines is a step too far.

Ah, but when it aired on Tuesdays this century it didn't - although I'd still say it's the revamp rather than the time change which hastened it's demise. You can't really say that because Tuesdays and Fridays worked for it last century it would work for it now - even ignoring digital channels the landscape amongst the main five channels has changed hugely in the last decade.

Ah, that explains why ITV2 have jumped ahead to next Thursdays schedule - I guess they'll air the episodes due on Sunday in the slot next week then.

Really though rather than simply fast-tracking so have two episodes this week, one next week then none the week after ITV2 might have been better off airing the Judges Homes episodes once a week to carry them through to the live shows in November.

A good night for ITV1 with Emmerdale propping up the whole night like last Wednesday. Midsomer did decently. Emmerdale has now hurt WR two weeks in a row. And the week before that Corrie damaged it too. And with another extra Corrie soon this could put WR to a series average low. If it's still around next year when Corrie is restored to Wednesday the BBC need to move it to 8pm.
