That official rating doesn't include HD. The ITV1 Top 30s table ratings don't include HD. The Top 10s tables have ITV1 HD so basically you have to add that HD rating onto the ITV1 figure.

Thanks Mike . Do you know if the Top 10s tables of ITV1, ITV1 HD and ITV1+1 for those weeks will be updated soon too or not?

Has there been any news on when Lip Service will be back? It should be back around now if they want to do a series this year.

Thanks Mike . You might wanna check the ITV1 Top 10 for w/e 2nd October. I know TXF is popular, but that table says 101 million people watched the episode that week !

Channel 5 have submitted a formal application to Ofcom for the proposed fifth HD slot on Freeview:

http://stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/bin...rd/ITA3-c5.pdf

If successful, the new service will launch in spring / early summer 2012. There were no other applicants.

Lots of interesting stuff in the document, but one thing that I know many viewers will be pleased about is that both CSI: Vegas and NCIS will be in HD from next year.

And a cool ratings related statistic I spotted:

Quote:
“Channel 5 HD has proved to be highly popular with viewers in HD homes. In Sky HD homes, viewing to Channel 5 and its HD simulcast is 4% higher than the equivalent viewing in Sky homes without HD reception”

I think Channel 5 are a shoo in to get it, only other HD channel which would be good would be Film4HD.

Good move from Channel 5. It makes sense seeing as the other 'mainstream' channels have most of their HD counterparts on Freeview with BBC2 being the exception until 2012.

I've already got one. And it frustrates me greatly that my most watched channel is currently not available in HD when it is on other paltforms. Hopefully this won't be the case for much longer now.

call me stupid I always assumed that channel 53 on my HD telly was reserved for Channel 5 HD

didn't realise it was out to tender, anyway it'll be nice to have that space filled (assuming it will be 53)

Tvbythenumbers

Among adults 18-49, ABC was down 8% vs same night last year. CBS was down 3% (gains at 8pm offsetting losses later on). NBC went into repeats on what I think is the last Thursday before November Sweeps.

I was hoping for 55. Easier to remember. Twice as good as regular 5.

Another worrying night for ABC.

Grey's Anatomy now looks unlikely to stay above a 3 for the rest of the season which would be a disaster for ABC. With the casting issues they're facing for next season they should consider calling it a day although they won't instead it'll continue on for another year with dwindling interest dragging the rest of the schedule down with it. At the very least they should pull the plug on Private Practice this season and maybe move Grey's to 10PM next year.

Over on CBS The Big Bang Theory got a nice bump. I wonder if that's a syndication bump or whether its down to the lack of X Factor and (bizarrely) NBC being in repeats. Regardless Rules felt the benefit of the big lead-in. Person of Interest continues to disappoint in that 9PM slot. This was supposed to be CBS' big new drama and its barely above Unforgettable a show that had considerably less promotion and airs in an hour with lower PUT. Something has to change midseason.

NBC I assume went into repeats to try and avoid the World Series. Makes sense for them at this point.

I think Greys Anatomy will likely make Season 9 the last season, both Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey have expressed interest in leaving. It has had a great run though especially as it started as a midseason show.

If we want a candidate for 'worst scheduling decision spanning several years', there it is. It seems the soaps were dented a little by the Football on Five, but even still that share is horrible for Corrie.

I don't know why Corrie was moved from Wednesdays, other than Champs League and to provide a good lead-in for the revamped The Bill. If it was on Wednesdays, I'm sure it would be achieving 9 million, so on par with Monday episodes.

Quite low shares for the soaps yesterday. EastEnders only at 34% but not that far ahead of Coronation Street in terms of viewers. Emmerdale @ 7pm quite close to EastEnders share wise at 32%. Quite strange, as I would've expected to EastEnders to closer to 37%.

The pressure should be off for the Thursday Coronation St eps for most of the rest of this year, because BBC One will probably have quite weak programming in that 8-9pm slot until Christmas, apart from the night of the Children in Need concert, if that's being shown on a Thursday.

A lot of Channel 5's output is in HD, hopefully The Gadget Show goes HD next year, think either next series or the series after. Film wise, a lot of the terrestrial premieres are in HD but I imagine it'll take a while to replace any films that aren't in HD.

I'm surprised the CSIs and NCIS aren't in HD whereas other US imports like The Mentalist and The Walking Dead but again that may be due to rights and cost.
