I think the soaps are starting to sink now; they're not the pull they once were. They'll be around for a few years ytet but year or year they'll record slow declines.
ITV1 will be happy with their evening last night, and they'll be hoping that the (probably planned) publicity with The X Factor plus the smaller clash will result in an increase tonight. I wonder whether Strictly may be hurt more as people'll turn over as soon as the final dance finishes rather than hanging around - it's easier to catch up with a 15 minute overlap than a 45 minute one.
BBC One will be content with their lot, though Have I Got News For You is another programme that seems to be suffering a decline now. Would I Lie To You is holding up reasonably but not recording excellent figures.
Big Brother was as steady as ever; Channel 5 will be happier with The Bachelor, though I'm not sure whether it would hold up so well with the like-for-like lead in; it'd stand out like a sore thumb surrounded by the American Crime Dramas though I guess it would work ok with the likes of The Gadget Show and The Hotel Inspector.
Pete versus Life struggled on Channel 4 without the Big Brother support and probably hurt 8 Out of 10 Cats in the process. Derren Brown did reasonably well; certainly better than The Million Pound Drop has been getting in that slot of late IIRC.
BBC Two had a very good night with their outside themed programming; it probably hooked an audience and kept them all night.
