Very disappointing rating for X Factor, the numbers have dipped a bit each week for the live shows which must be worrying. If things don't improve soon SCD will overtake it, which would be a massive turnaround from the last few years.

November 5/6th is a huge weekend for it. If X Factor isn't over 1m ahead of it there must be a chance Strictly could beat it for the final

The judges nearly made me switch off last night.It was terrible.Fake rows about nothing.
sharon annoyed the hell out of people but when she kicked off you could tell it was for a valid Reason.

IMHO Dannii is being Missed the most because she would defend her acts totally.The Quality of the Acts is so poor.Gary Barlow as head judge isnt working also the guy has the personality of a Dalek.

X Factor always dips when it's on Bonfire Night so it won't do too well on that Saturday. The worrying thing for ITV must be that the figures are actually slightly down on where they were for the auditions.

Also the same show last year averaged 12.0m so it was down a whopping -16%. I think there could be some big y-o-y declines in the next few weeks as the figures are showing no signs if picking up like they have over the last few years.

47.5% share last year and official itv ratings were 12.39

That 9.77 doesn't include HD does it? Else (without+1) it's down even on 2008 levels

It's would be interesting to see a breakdown. How many people watched the last dance of Strictly then turned over to X Factor i wonder

There's no point doing comparisons with last year, it's obviously down by a significant amount. Poor figures for it, surprisingly low +1 figure as well, not the highest of the day for ITV1.

It includes HD. The third show in 2008 had 9.7m (39.6%) in the overnights, so very slightly up on that.

Poor for The X Factor last night. The year-on-year gaps are progressively getting bigger and it's losing momentum rather than gaining it like the last two years. This is turning out to be Strictly's year - it's going to be very close between the two next Saturday, what with SCD gaining momentum (XF will still be quite comfortably ahead on Sundays though). Also BBC1 probably beat ITV1 in the primetime shares last night which would be very rare for a Saturday in October.

Bit of a weird night actually. It looks like anything that started at 8pm or later was down week on week (XF, Merlin, Casualty) whilst pre-8pm stuff was up (SCD, Family Fortunes, YBF, TV Burp). TV Burp should be above 5m next week paired up with YBF. Also that's pretty strong for Family Fortunes considering it was directly against Strictly and didn't have an XF lead out.

Whilst 9.8m is a good figure in itself, it's not good for XF standards and I can't believe how close it was to SCD last night. Interesting to see TV Burp managing its highest rating so far, as the XF decreases. Also it was a poor episode of TV Burp last night. Decent for Ross, but ITV still should have started their schedule 15 minutes later.

Very disappointing. And SCD beat it share wise. Yesterday's show was very poor indeed, and a lot of the bickering seemed fake to me. The performances were boring and uninspiring and it's clear something isn't working (maybe the departure of Brian Friedman, the Creative Director from previous series, has something to do with it.

I would be interested to see the ratings during the 15 minute clash period between TXF and SCD.

I Agree. 9.77m is a fantastic rating for this day and age but with what X Factor had in 2010 and 2009 it looks below par.

I did read a interesting report though saying that advertisers would not abandon X Factor and they still Expect it to get 13-14m for the final.

Its sad that some of them came across as a bunch of oldies with their ballads and not really getting Rock.

Its bad for X Factor and I think the producers ARE in PANIC MODE. The stuff last night was petty, childish, and forced.

They need more fun like Kitty and Jonny - Strictly is fun, X Factor is now a chore and frankly an increasingly nasty show.
I think next year only Louis and Tulisa should stay - whilst she failed miserably to get the theme (it was poor and she seemed way out of touch as she came across like a mum trying to 'get down with it' except shes now and isn't) shes at least likable - Kelly and Gary are very very unlikable.


Strictly won on shares again. +1 is very low - possibly people not bothering? Seemed odd.
Also with a 15 minute less clash - X Factor should be doing better - its getting gradually worse instead. Something is defoes not working.

Merlin doing well again. ITV must wish they had a show like that to play against Strictly.

I Would not be surprised if X Factor got about 5m in the clash. Who would turn a program over when it only has 15ms to go
