They are effectively paying the new going rate for the rights - they wrote down the value of the previous contract.
I cant see ITV going wild - I dont think they will go for exclusivity on Euro 2012 for example. I think we will see more strengthing of ITV4 to get it up to a 2% share by acquiring more sports rights.
Ideally I think ITV would like to see ITV2 at a 3-4% share, ITV3 at 3% and ITV4 at somewhere above 2%. Put those tgether with CITV at 0.3% and you would have a m/c share of about 9% versus ITV1 of say 17-18%.
