I cant help but wonder if the BBC is going to promote Lee Mack to Saturday Night soon, not sure what format that might take however.

Also is anyone else confused by American Dad on Digiguide? according to DG BBC 3 is show S6 episode 1 - 3 and then S5 episode 4, which is confusing.

They already tried with Lee Mack's All Star Cast over the summer but that didn't do particularly well. I can see them trying other new formats in the future with him though.

I like this show!! Wouldn't be surprised if was beaten by Sky1's Spy. Unbelievably low figure for a C4 original comedy.

They'll be giving up on them soon. Sad.

Amazing rating for Celebrity Juice on Thursday night. Ant & Dec must have brought in the extra viewers. It's a monster show for ITV2. Corrie did better in the Thursday slot after a few poor weeks but was probably boosted by the storyline and also outperformed the Wednesday episode which I wasn't expecting.

--------------------------------------------------------

Corrie did well last night. Both eps will clear 9m in the officials and it was over 1m ahead of EE which is unusual these days for a Friday. They have been very close recently. BB seems to be doing better now, but Channel 5 must be disappointed by the figures because overall, they have been very poor, with the odd episode falling below 1m. H&A storm week ends, and it received no boost at all really. It was just OK really. Potentially, you could miss that week, and tune in next week and it will be like nothing happened.

Utterly awful figure for Pete Versus Life, and I imagine 8 Out of 10 Cats at 22:40 must have suffered very badly as a result afterwards.”

They should definately flip the two next week (indeed looks like they have already from the week after!)

Your memory is better than mine because I didn't remember about the EastEnders episode.

It did flop. Figures like that in the same slot got Paul O' Grady axed. It's just the fact ITV have had so many 2m entertainment shows this year, that there's a temptation to look upon 3m as not being a flop. But it is.

Any idea how Weird Science did on BBC1 at 11.30pm seemed to be quite a popular choice online

It's Alexandra Burke. Big deal. Yawn!

I just assumed it was the usual array of acts with talented people and freak shows in abundance. But even hardened fans are complaining about the show this year and perceived lack of talent. Talent wise the US version seems to be pissing all over it.

that might be relevant if the audience actually was 3m but since it wasnt whats the point of your comment?

Over in the US Grimm actually got off to a surprisingly solid start with a 2.1 in the 18-49 demo, which is pretty good on a Friday. This was despite Chuck launching dreadfully with a miserable 1.0. If NBC have any sense they'll repeat Grimm at some point this week (Wed at 9pm or Thurs at 10pm...or both) and if it shows even a flicker of potential and it holds up OK next week then they should move it permanently to one of those slots (Thursday at 10pm would be best).

Very impressive considering it had the baseball and a hilariously bad Chuck lead-in to contend with.

My hunch is still that it will plummet next week - genre show always seem to - but you're absolutely right that NBC has nothing to lose from repeating it this week sometime. You have to wonder why they stuck with Fridays at all considering the carnage elsewhere.

Hi again, George.

If it's over 3.0m, but under 4.0m, it's a 3m show.

Similarly, ITV's 2m flops weren't all rated at precisely 2.00m.

If the X Factor thing had been planned and announced mid-week it might have worked.

Alexandra Burke ain't gonna pull viewers in. Mind you it might stop the panel being quite so irritating so that'll help.

Biggest problems:
All Tulisa's acts are in trouble - major brand problems
All Kelly's acts are in trouble - she hasn't been there all week
All Gary's acts are in trouble - they've all been rubbish so far

Louis acts are the only shining light. Now thats bad

3.51m was not bad for BM (especially on a Friday night), it will timeshift better also. If you told ITV1 execs that all 9pm ratings were guaranteed to rate over 3.5m I think they would be more than happy.

yeah its so-so. I dont see it as a huge success but I think "flop" is a bit harsh too

I agree, 3.5 million is quite good for a singer who has always been an acquired taste. It's also good that ITV is featuring a singer like Manilow who has a big over 40 following.

If ITV launched a dating show and it rated something like 30% above their slot average, then yes I would give it the praise it deserved. Because this is a ratings thread and that would represent a good performance.

There's nothing crap about the format anyway. It might not be your cup of tea, but it's a hit entertainment format in the UK and US for a reason. And the execution this time with Gavin Henson made for an enjoyable series, well liked by viewers and critics.

That's the temptation I was talking about. If you get a string of 2m (2.00 to 2.99m ) flops, there's a temptation to look upon 3m (3.00 to 3.99m ) as being "not bad", whereas before the recent string of 2m flops, it would rightly have been looked upon as a disappointment.

Although I am aware this doesn't fit in with one of the golden rules of Ratings Thread: "There is always at least one reason why an individual ITV1 rating can never be bad"

BBC1 between 9-10pm wasnt that much above Manilow so when does a flop become a hit? Is there a sweet spot number?

I don't think I said anything about BBC One's 9pm hour. But since you've asked, I think Would I Lie to You has been a big disappointment ratings-wise in the 9pm hour this autumn. It has done okay at 10.35pm in the past, but in three years in primetime (2007, 2008 and 2011), it has always underwhelmed.
