This list is long, but basically step-by-step, based on my experiences over the last two years. Not difficult, but to the new neophyte it can be daunting. Good luck, glad to help, and if you have any questions, ‘call me.’ Happy writing, Rob ** Starting new stories for FanFiction.net and updating / maintaining them ** 1) Sign in, if you are a member, if not a member join! 2) On left side of page (after signing in) click on Publish tab 3) Pick ‘Doc Manager (upload)’ The page shows a list of file formats that are accepted. I have had no luck with .docX files so if you are using MS Word, I suggest your save your first chapter as a .doc file (the call it compatibility mode in Word). I find it useful when saving the file to FF, to give it a meaningful name, like Happy C8 (Story Are You Happy Now – Chapter 8). That way I can keep track of multiple chapters from multiple stories. If they are Chapter 1, Chapter 2, it gets confusing… From here you use the ‘Browse’ button to get the file from your computer and in the window next add a file name for FF to use. 4) Note that it is EXTREMELY useful to save your story as chapters. One per file. Otherwise Chapter 1 will be the entire story, all 27,000 words of it, or whatever. That is a pain for readers! ![]() 5) Click ‘New Story’ 6) Click on Guidelines in the window has appeared 7) Scroll down to the bottom of that page and click ‘Yes I have read and agreed to the content guidelines’ 8) Select ‘New Story’ 9) In the Publish New story page pick Normal or Crossover 10) Pick the ‘Select/Change Category’ 11) From the window that opens pick TV (or whatever) 12) In that window scroll down to the show, such as ‘Doc Martin’ or ‘Dr Who’ 13) On the next page fill in the blanks – Title, Summary, Language, Rating, Characters, etc and the starting Document (your first chapter or section). 14) I put type the title of the story at the top of the page, followed with by: yourname, skip a couple liens, then start the story. 15) Some authors like to put notes at the beginning of their stories, such as: Doc Martin is owned by Buffalo Pictures, and I was lying in bed one night and wondered what if in Season 4, the Doc… Convention is to make those notes bold print, just so it is clear it is an intro and not part of the story. 16) So there you go. New story, first chapter. Ta-da! Yay! Go eat ice cream to celebrate 17) After you have been up all night typing the next chapter, 18) You can go to the ‘Publish’ tab, pick Doc Manager and upload the file as before 19) Pick ‘Manage Stories’ and the page shown will; have your story(s) header info listed. 20) On the story listing on the right side, pick ‘Edit’ 21) At the top of the page that opens, pick ‘Content/Chapters’ 22) Then you get a list of all the chapters in the story. At the bottom of the page are two buttons. ‘Add Chapter’ and ‘Replace Chapter’ So you can add new ones to the tale, or replace existing ones. 23) After you have added or replaced a chapter, you can pick ‘Live Preview’ at the top and scroll through to the end of the story to make sure it is what you want. I cannot tell you the number of times even though I have read and re-read and edited the chapter, when I add it on FF, I can always find a typo or extra commas, or just messy things… |

Link added. DS was playing up so I had to link to this page not to your post but hopefully people won't find that too confusing.

"Dodger was chosen to play the role of Buddy, the new canine member of cast, who lives with the Aunt Joan after producers vetted several other dogs. "Dodger is a rescued Jack Russell from the Dogs' Trust charity, and he is such a brilliant dog," says Martin, who is passionate about all dogs off screen."

Changes for Series 6
Hi
If there is to be a series 6, I offer the following changes to improve DM's life: 1. Send JH to boarding school 2. Bring back Aunt Joan (its done in Dallas) 3. Bring back Pauline 4. Bring back PC Mylow 5. Send Aunt Ruth back to London 6. Bert and Al need to take to take up plumbing again 7. Introduce new restaurant family and employ Morwenna |

Bring back PC Mylow?
And get rid of Penhale? Surely not! Penhale is absolutely hilarious! |

Maybe Pauline could return as she wasn't definitively written out -- depending on how Katherine Parkinson's career opportunities are shaping up at the time. She does add a lot to the show, imo. Morwenna should stick around though - I quite like her.

Someone mentioned last week that an article about Caroline Catz was in one of the British magazines. Is there any chance of someone posting a link to the article?
I want DM, LG and JH to go on a holiday and it not be just a just a bunch of jokes. I would like to see a scene with them connecting as a family outside of Port Wenn. There would be the requisite medical emergency where the Doc saves someone, and other antics, but a few moments of real connection would be nice. You can see CC's tattoo under the sleeve of the dress she wore in the scene where she broke up with Martin. Penhale drove me crazy in S5. He was always interrupting them. Sometimes I just wanted to tell him "Go away!". I know that was the point, and it worked on me. |

I can't remember the number of the episode. It's the dress that is black and white small checks, and has sheer short sleeves. Since the sleeves are sheer you can see the tattoo a little bit.

The My Weekly mag issue which had the CC piece has been replaced on the newstand -- just checked at my local Sainsbury's. So unless somebody has it at home, I think we're left in suspense until the original post-er gets back to us....
