She needs to have an epiphany of some sort that helps her realize whether she wants to stay with him or not. I don't care how they address it just as long as they do. PPD would be an excellent way to do it.

Too bad they can't write and film this week's episode until after we've seen the previous week's so that we can tell them how It should be done!

DM has always done this, right from the beginning. Maybe they haven't been able to watch the series from the beginning, I guess. In s5 ep1 DM could describe a patient in exact physical and medical terms but couldn't comeup with "Mr Chubb".
They were Brits who were complaining about it. And an Irishman. Twitter is the wild west of social media. Topics are flying all over the place and then disappear. I would just tweet the link. But on Mon eves and Tues morns UK time, there are a lot of tweets re: DM. Opinions are all over the place, but most people like it and the women lust after MC.

LOL
Excellent idea. Furthermore, if they can't think up a scenario for s6 they should just ask us.

I sometimes wonder if DM's evolving grumpiness (which we know is purely MC's idea) is MC's testing his popularity. This is probably far fetched but he has said he just wants to be liked. Everyone who meets him likes him because he is so charming and engaged.

We know he has been surprised at DM's popularity (and doesn't know why it is so). Could he be testing how horrible he could be before there is viewer backlash and say they don't like him then he would pull back on the grumpiness?

Postpartum depression

The actress Brooke Shields around 2005 publicized her bout with PPD two years prior when she had a baby. There is quite a bit of information on the internet if you search Brooke Shields postpartum depression. She was instrumental in enlightening the public in this very common condition with new moms. You can see interviews with her, and she also wrote a book about it.

The more we talk about it here the more I hope that it will be discussed on the program. It would fit very well. It was pretty bad, now that I am remembering it, and I didn't want to take the chance of it coming back since I had the 3 yr old & the baby. Louisa could just be really frustrated with him but it would be more interesting if there were a medical explanation.

Why are we so crazy about DM? Do you think it's because he's unobtainable, hard-to-get, except for Louisa? And, he's not really that attractive on one hand, but, he's extremely gorgeous on the other! And, he doesn't seem to have a great body, maybe even has a bit of a poochy stomach, yet looks damn good in that suit! And, he's monosyllabic, gruff and rude!
Okay, he is well-meaning, but What Is It About That Man?!

I think there are quite a few on this Forum from the Portland, OR area. FYI - Series 5 of DM and Series 2 of Downton Abbey are both scheduled for early next year.

I love the radio interviews almost as much as the vids because of the 'voice'. This is an audio interview that's been on YT for a while.

isn't that the truth ccc? No one told me and I've never told anyone - there really is no way to explain it in a way that could ever capture the reality!

I noticed just a few minutes ago that Murder in Suburbia is available in the streaming format on Netflix now. I'm going to go watch it tonight!

Thanks for posting. I had not heard this interview before. He spoke enthusiastically about acting in DM, which is encouraging. Of course, that was one year ago.
He has such a lovely speaking voice!

As for godparents, I really can't see DM approving Bert Large--I think he believes Bert is somewhat of an idiotic.

I could imagine AR, although she would be old to care for an infant or child if something happened to DM/LG, and I doubt she has much parenting experience (although we have no inkling of her past history of relationship/kids). I think Roger Fenn would be good, as he revels in parenthood and has a stable relationship with his partner.

Are godparents always chosen at a christening?

The Week 7 Synopsis offers some hope for us idealists--we get rid of Eleanor as she has to leave to recover from her surgery, and LG realizes her mother is simply not any type of help. So, that does set things up for LG and DM perhaps having a better chance of reconnecting. And, DM does get to see JH.

Thanks for this! Funny how I have seen so many things MC has done outside of DM and yet I haven't seen CC in anything but DM. I'm gonna have to start watching now!

On a side note, I just saw a promo for Reggie Perrin on PBS, starting November 1st! Martin Clunes is taking over that channel!!

I know for Catholics, godparents are always chosen at a christening, but it has become more of a symbolic gesture rather than actually choosing people as guardians. Choosing guardians you do in the will and it doesn't have to be the same people. However, this may be different in Church of England, so i'm not sure.

Roger Fenn is probably the only one I could see being asked to be a godparent, maybe even Al, considering they are really the only two people that are on good terms with both LG and DM. Bert, I'm not so sure. Him and DM have a funny relationship and AR, I don't think LG knows her well enough to agree to that. Maybe if Morwenna proves herself after helping DM with the surgery, she could be a contender.

What about Mrs. Tishell??...oh now I'm just causing trouble

And not only that, you wouldn't believe anyone who tried to tell you how overwhelming and life-changing it would be -- at least we certainly thought that we were different than all those other parents who "let" their children change their lives -- wouldn't happen with us! But of course it did and LG has been in major denial all along, and DM largely right.

Denial continues WRT to lining up babysitters, obviously.

I think he gets some kind of kick out of exploring the outer boundaries of the opposite of his usual personality. I think he has some plot-related rationale, but he really hasn't shared it with us, so I go with the idea that he just darn well wants to do it that way.

I think traditionally the godparents are supposed to ensure the child has a proper religious upbringing ie: buy them a bible.

I hope they give Aunt Ruth some redeeming value as a character more than what she has been so far.

I am thinking of getting the two of them to think about their situation. AR in theory would be the most obvious character to

I am irritated by the character, but I am also irritated that BP hasn't used her character better. I wonder if the first camera shot in last ep was trying to say something by putting AR between the two of them at the dinner table.

I think I have told you on here before that on my first day home from hospital I was determined that my first son wasn't going to change me in any way. I put him in the car to go to the supermarket and got the pram out of the back of the car. I couldn't get the pram open - I tell you I tried everything. I threw it back in the boot and drove home in floods of tears.

I took hours to recover and then burst into tears again when my husband came home from work and showed me how to put the stupid thing up.
