Did anyone see today's SB? they usual glorious crap throughout, and noteable for 1) like every other episode, nothing actually took a step forward, and 2) the arrival of Cole St. John Deschenel, the first. Not the dimplified jewel thief Eddie Ciibrian who later takes over the role, but the all-american son on leather-faced George Hamilton, Ashley. And my god you can see why they changed them! Someone on here said they re-cast Hamilton because a focus group thought he wasn't good-looking enough. Well maybe they were being polite, because he clearly is a bit of a looker, but he couldn't act his way out of a paper bag. He was dreadful, and he was only in one scene! he looked away and thought of his line every time he had to say something. simply crap. but beautiful crap. He made Casey look like frikkin' Lawrence Olivier.

It was so bloody awful, very amusing.

Casey is NEARLY as bad, hilariously wooden.

Ricardo is the worst cop EVER.

Tim looks like someone made of plastic who's been partially melted.

Mark just looks lost in every scene and like he's trying to concentrate WAY too hard.

Apart from that, I don't think anyone is too bad. Annie pouts and squints her eyes through scenes, but she's a good actress I think. Olivia just seems to be required to look "panic striken" then smirk in EVERY scene too.

This IS the Ashley Hamilton who tried to launch a singing career not long ago isn't it? Cos he looks much better there than he does in SB...

The Sunset Beach Police Force are ahoot. Eddie looks like he's had his jaw wired in a botched op. Tim is the ugly one. His face is so out of proportion. I think Mark is good, but he is a bit of a deer-in-the-headlights. Casey wins the award for Soap Himbo hands down, and he his acting is dreadful. Although this Cole put him pale. He must have got the role 'cos his dad's George Hamilton.

I think Nick Stabile's Mark is better than Randy "daddy's boy' Spelling's Sean, who featured FAR too much later on. Rapping. lol.

There are good actors in there, but good at being bad if you catch my drift: Annie, Aunt Bette, Olivia, Gregory... they all camp it up as is appropriate. Meg & Ben are good too, I think Susan Ward could do stuff outside soap, whereas the others are soap through and through.

Incidentally, how many days have passed in Sunset Beach? I know it's been on for three weeks our time, but that means nothing in SuBe: the three week Terror Island story took place over a weekend. Time moves in strange ways. I think Meg's been in town for a few days, their time.

Yeah, I think we're only about 4 days in.

I like the Asian doctor woman. Does she get much of a bigger part later on? She seems a decent actress, but then she IS opposite Casey most of the time so that's not hard...

I don't know if she gets a bigger part because i think she leaves the soap before the first year is over!

It took me a while to figure out if that as Cole on the pier today as he looked so different (to me) from his picture in the opening titles!

Eddie Connors REALLY annoyed me in todays ep though, the way he is all smug about Annie being arrested yet he's only being happy about it because she knocked him back! Plus he has evidence of Olivia throwing the gun in the ocean, so why does he want that yet is happy to see Annie go to prison? Not that i would want to see Olivia in a cell as she is my favourite, along with the great Gregory!

SuBe becomes itself when the Richards go mental. The Six in a Bed story was their finest hour! and I hate Dr Chang or whoever, she really gets on my nerves. Although this could be by her association with Casey. Never a good thing.

lol. I actually don't mind Casey now which is odd as when i watched SB last time, him and Meg really annoyed me! As things go on though i will probably start finding them annoying again. It did make me laugh today though when Rae let go of Casey's hand and he hit himself in the head with the brush! lol.

All the Richards/Deschanels (including Bette as she really is part of them) are my fav's! The 6 in a bed fantasy was hilarious!
Annie to Gregory: I think you should keep spoiling me i like these little reminders of how much you love me.

I used to watch it (much to my shame) as Channel 5 used to show it (along with the Bold & the Beautiful.....another appauling show...so bad you have to watch it!) when 5 first started a good few years back.

I really cant remember much....but the stuff you are talking about rings a bell.....so have they started it from the beginning? If they have, surely we must be about 5-6years behind the US....that's if it's still made over there.....

Spankee, SB finished in the US on December 31, 1999 so they are not making it anymore. Five are showing it from the beginning weekdays at 10:30am.

well I was fairly sure that was it. he sort of mumbles and stretches out the words, but i'm sure it was "how cosy... a menage a, six", when the shot is over-head looking down on him, Kaitlin, Cole, Olivia, Gregory and Annie. Before they all dive for the necklace.

Is it me or does Olivia have an American accent at the start of SuBe?

Sounds a bit English at the moment, but she does flit in and out of it during the first months and finally settles on being English.

One of the things Sunset Beach has never had a handle on is time. One minute a storyline seems to take a day in SB time, the next it catches up to the present day. You'll notice that the anniversary of Maria's death is never the same time between year one and two. But who needs to nitpick? Sunset Beach has got "more holes than a teabag" as the great John Darvall once said.

As for Casey, well he's actually less annoying than he becomes. He's even quite funny. As is Michael. But they dropped the ball on those characters as the show goes on - as they did with a lot of them, especially Gregory. Still, early days yet.

I was looking at some page today that showed the final cast in the last episode, and is Casey REALLY there till the very end? My God, I'd sooner the doctor stayed than him.

Yup...Casey's in it till the very end.

The original actress to play Tiffany was in it for about five months, then the actress that took over is in it for another three months...so a total of eight months.

I just love how crap the music is in "The Deep", no more evident than today. When they play something that people are dancing along to it's the same thing looped over and over
