When will the UK find a massive country music artist!!
I have know idea why country music is not big in the UK, and why haven't we found an artist from the UK to become big in teh country music scene. It is a massive part of the industry, and some of the best music have come from country music musicians.
I really hope in the next 5 years or soo the UK begin to embrace it more. |

The UK is heading towards R&B infused music as of late so I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Yeah I no, but I think it is a market seriously lacking another massive worldwide star, I think if the UK found one of their own country music stars they might begin to embrace ither country music stars.

Country will never be big in the UK something we will have to accept, one of the only places in the world where its not popular. UK artists are not geared to that kind of music, its just chart pop pap here now, most would not even know where to start if they even wanted to do country.

It is soo sad
that it isn't embraced I was in America a couple of years ago and Country Music is soo massive over there. Artists like Sugarland, Rissi Palmer, Carrie Underwood etc are awesome :/ I buy country music all the time, im sadly one of the few in the UK

The reason the UK has no big country artists is because country music is mainly about how amazing America is, and it's very conservative. Young British people aren't going to be interested in that. |

The market for country artists is growing, Lady Antebellum's new album charted in the top 5 last week, Taylor Swift and Sugarland are also doing good and Dolly Parton's latest album went top 10

There's absolutely no incentive for any UK record company to actually look for a potentially successful country artist because it would never happen anyway. They don't throw money at stuff they don't think they can get any return on. It really is a very US-centric genre of music.

Well, (American) "country" music is foreign to us. It doesn't have any part in our culture, so naturally it doesn't really 'take' beyond the occasional moderate success...and even then it's inoffensive and very pop.

I love country music and would love the UK to embrace it but sadly I don't think it will happen. We don't even embrace Taylor Swift over here, her only real hit was "Love Story". Other than that I don't think she's really been in the charts.

Plus, when the biggest artists American Country has to offer are bland and unoriginal (like Taylor Swift and Lady Antebellum) it doesn't paint a great picture for the génre. |

When she came here in March the BBC almost wet themselves trying to get her into abbey roads to do a set for them and of course all her concerts here and in Ireland were totally sold out. There are rumours that she will come back next year to play the O2 in London again as many did not get to see her when she was here before due to sellouts, the scramble for these tickets will be insane. ![]() So even though country is not that big in the UK as a mainsteam music there are still enough fans here for the cream of country to still sell out arena's easily. |
