Sunset Beach: an unfortunate fact
Hey everyone, I've just registered so this is my first post. Like many others here, I was very happy when Five began to show SB again recently (and still am). Previously I had only seen the first year on ITV2 which back then didn't have that great reception.
Anyway this morning I stumbled upon a sad thing: Five are CUTTING the show we love so much! Anyone who compares the second episode shown on 7th September 2004 with the same ep that was on ITV2 (I have them on tape) will see a love scene between Ricardo and Paula has been dramatically shortened! I have no idea if the first Channel 5 broadcast was similiarly cut or not. Perhaps anyone out there may have it on tape? If I recall correctly, the ITV2 showings were in the evening which probably explains the difference. I am very dissapointed in Five. I had been hoping to watch SB in great Sky digital quality all the way through with a view to putting them on DVD. But it seems this is too much to ask. I guess the cut in episode 2 may have been a one-off. If anyone's wondering, the cut portion wasn't exactly overally raunchy I'd say, just a bit more flesh on display. Of course if Five continue to show the last two years in exactly the same way as they did before, I would not be able to make comparisons with ITV2. I urge all those faithful SB fans that helped Five get around to repeating the show to make their voices heard again! |

Ive also noticed how they are cutting it
![]() It happened on the first episode, they cut Meg saying: "YOU BA***RD" when she caught Tim with the other woman. However, when they first showed it back in 97, they kept it in. |

That's really rough. What's changed since 1997 so that we can't see the best programme Channel 5 have ever put on in the way the creators intended? I never imagined we would need a late night version of Sunset Beach...

Who cares about a love scene, paula and ricardo are the boring bits of sunset beach, they can cut them out as much as they like.

i dont intend to miss Annie's whipped cream or Cole and Olivia in the sack. Its time to write people to prevent conservative honchos from cutting it!!

I hardly think it's something to get out of your pram about. Are you saying that missing 20 seconds here and there is ruining the whole show for you? It isn't like the show moves at a breakneck speed, it moves at the speed of a snail who is riddled with arthiritis and needs to take breaks every few yards. If it really rained on your parade that you didn't see Meg swear at Tim, or Ricardo and Paula be boring, then I think you ought to get out and experience the vigour of the real world. I doubt they'd cut Annie's whipped-cream dress, or Gregory & Olivia 'going down' in the lift, because it took up such a major chunk of the episode, whereas they're probably cutting chips here and there to work in the ad breaks.
And the 'creative integrity' of the programe? Please! this is Sunset Beach you're talking about. |

HOW DARE YOU ![]() We viewers deserve to see the original uncut version! And by the, SB is the best soap on tv at the moment! Much better than all the UK soaps with thier boring storylines and ugly actors

Just an addendum: the cut I estimated at 20 seconds was found to be actually almost exactly 60 seconds after timing it.

The only time i have noticed a cut was the day Del got shot. On the Friday everything was fine, the music in the background and everything, yet they showed the gun shoot twice but never saw Del with the hole in him and him falling onto the bed. I know they showed this on the Monday but it was one of those slightly ammended scenes with different music. |

Strange.
What if they were doing the same thing last time they aired it too? Did thay cut in Del's shooting? If they did that, I'm afraid that they also will cut in the famous crematory sequence .. |

I just checked ... and Yes, they did cut Del's shooting! Hevealy! I mean, that scene was originally quite messy/bloody! Now you didn't even see a glimpse of Del!
I would be in outraged if I lived in UK
