Looking good so far. Strange to see Charlize Theron listed midway down the cast though......will it be a quick hi-and-die role?

BTW, is H.R.Giger involved in this in any way at all?

I agree. I actually enjoyed Aliens, thought it fun. But Alien is a sci-fi masterpiece.

I have never seen any of the Alien films (sad I know) but this looks amazing. Is it a horror or just a sci-fi film? One of my best horror films is Event Horizon.

I have been all about the Dark Knight Rises but for some reason I seem to be more eger to watch this film instead.

Anyone know when the full trailer is out?

If Prometheus is anything like the original Alien (which it certainly appears to be) then it will be a mix of sci-fi and horror, and if you like Event Horizon then i pretty much guarantee that you'll love the Alien films. Get them watched!

Thanks for the info. My GF things I am mad for not seeing them, Star Wars (any of them) Back to the Future (any of them) I think she is mad for never seeing the Goonies.

Cool I am really looking forward to this now.

Looks really good. I don't care if the aliens show up or not.

So many good trailers this week! The Dark Knight Rises, The Hobbit, Prometheus! We're being spoiled!

I don't understand why the production is playing down the "Alien" connection when that clearly is the derelict and Space Jockey from the first film. Actually quite disturbing to see it again, it's one scary space ship.

Yes he's done some design and artwork on the sets according to Scott.

Spoiler

2012 is going to be a great year for films (WWZ, The Hobbit, Batman, Prometheus, Battleships, etc) can't wait.

I didn't think they were playing down the Alien connection particularly, like you said that is clearly the derelict ship crashing on LV-426 complete with the Space Jockey chair, and even the way the title appears onscreen is exactly the same as the way "A L I E N" appeared during the opening credits of the first film. What's betting that the film ends with the distress beacon that the Nostromo picks up being activated?

As a massive Alien fan (i even did my Film Studies dissertation on the four original films) i really can't wait for this!

Full quality trailers now up:

Edit: Weird, when I copy/paste that link from here to another window I get a really long url starting with viglink.com - Is that a DS feature?

The trailer is absolutely steeped in Alien design and references, but Ridley Scott and other members of the production have been keen to try and play that connection down in interviews.

The 'Alien' universe is much bigger than the Xenomorph. That is the impression one gets from listening to Ridley Scott. He stated explicitly that crew members will encounter other creatures that are capable of 'eviscerating' them. Perhaps the Pilots (or Space Jockeys) could be zoological scientists, trawling the universe for interesting life forms, which they tinker with, but that is purely my own speculation. Alien stagnated after a promising beginning because of a narrow focus on Ellen Ripley. This film offers far more.

The trailer looks beautiful - the production values look wonderful. The content looks a bit 'seen it before' although it looks like they've tapped into Douglas Adams' 'Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy' with stuff about who created life, the universe and everything. If they pad that subplot out it could be more than just another Alien film. Could be cool.

Scott has to make sure it doesn't feel like a rehash of the first Alien film but I'm sure he's smart enough to know that.
