I did a search for sleeping beauty villain (maleficent) and it said she has a role in this, so thats what has brought me here to find out if anyone else had heard of this upcoming tv show in the states.

It has apparently received great reviews, i wonder if the UK will get it.

If it is being billed as "From the creators of Lost," it will probably fail. Not because Lost failed - which it didn't. But because everything billed as being masterminded behind someone who made Lost, does.

My advice to any channel that chooses to pick this up - DO NOT under any circumstances advertise that fact.

That would kill the show dead before it even begins.

P.S. Thanks for the warning. I'll pass on this one...

Same. I'm not going to risk getting hooked for so many seasons just for another ridiculous ending.

Any mention of "Lost" will make the viewers run in the other direction. As popular as "Lost" was, by the end of its run, you could see viewers had become sick and tired of being led on by its meandering plot (the falling ratings were only proof of this). So when they hear of the Lost creators being behind this new show, I think they will run like the wind to be honest. ABC are setting it up for failure - like they did with "FlashForward" by advertising it as the "new Lost". I hope I'm wrong though, because it looks like a decent show.

I have to agree with that. Then again, rarely have any of the big genre shows succeeded in providing a good ending. The problem is, I think, is that the writers are obsessed about giving a shocking/surprising/unclear ending in an effort to get the fans to continue the speculation and discussion about their respective shows. It's like all logic gets thrown out the window and they decide to do the most left-field of endings just to surprise the fans/viewers.

I loved the 1st series of LOST i thought it was fantastic, and then the series just seemed to get worse and worse until finally we were put out of our misery, i managed to survive until the end but i know most of my mates gave up well before the end!

The only ending which comes to mind as being as bad as LOST is the Shadow Line (i didnt like the series much anyway but as it was only short stayed about to watch the last episode then wish i hadnt bothered lol)

IMDB has the first episode available to watch here. I haven't watched it because I'm planning to watch it when it airs. So far most people who watched thought it was great.

Sorry about that. Some viewers who are not in the US were able to watch so I thought you all would be too.

I figured most here who wanted to see it would "obtain" it somehow.

I watched the pilot earlier. It's a very strange concept for a show, but for me, it worked. I see a lot of potential there and by the way, the actress who plays the evil queen is fantastic.

Who knew that Sleeping Beauty could be so exciting, thought this was a great show, very unusual concept, and as someone who loved Lost - it is great to see a show that will probably be a huge talking point if marketed correctly, Thought the three lead actresses were amazing, Lana Parilla is amazing in everything and is perfectly evil and mysterious at the same time, Jennifer Morrison is stunning and Ginnifer Goodwin who I really don't know much about was good aswell, really looking forward to seeing how it continues and wonder if it will get a full season pick up in the states or is it one of those mini-series things that once they are done that's it.

They're hoping that it will be a series, they'd like it to go on for a few years. I'm hoping it does well here.

I'm glad to hear you liked it. I've been looking forward to this for a long time and I can't wait to watch it tomorrow!

I agree- there are few tv programmes which will ever live up to the legacy of LOST, whether one liked it or not- it's surely better not to start a new series with that pressure on you!

Although Fringe has done pretty well as a smaller cult show (arguably)

Same. I'm not going to risk getting hooked for so many seasons just for another ridiculous ending.
Ah but wasn't the journey fantastic? (Although personally I loved the ending just as much as the journey)

If you were so miserable why did you keep watching?

*is in a defend-LOST mood*

Personally, I only found Season 1 of Lost compelling and close to perfection in terms of character development and storytelling. The rest of the 5 seasons were mostly hit and miss for me and the story got more silly and unnecessarily convoluted as it went on (the time travel stuff seemed pointless to me). Don't get me wrong, I thought there were still a lot of shining moments throughout those 5 seasons (the character development and flashbacks continued fine throughout all seasons) - but overall in terms of the overarching plot/subplots on the Island, it wasn't good enough for me. Not nearly enough payoff either. Just mystery, mystery, mystery... and more mystery. You need to have payoff or the mysteries don't mean anything. It got to the point in early Season 3, where I was like, "Okay, are we actually going to find out ANYTHING about this Island?" in regards to the various mysteries.

I was never a huge Lost fan anyway, it was something for me to watch when I came back from work, so I wasn't one of those people who sat on forums complaining or obsessing about stuff on Lost or anything. Most of the time, I'd avoid Lost forums so I didn't have to read potential spoilers or theories that might come true. The only show that I was completely obsessed with on that level was the X-Files. No other sci-fi show comes close in my humble opinion. Lost was still a great show though and I understand why it had such a rabid fanbase. Different strokes for different folks and all that.

It's not really from the makers of Lost, it's from two writers of Lost Edward Kitsis & Adam Horowitz who co-wrote about 20 episodes out of 121.

I am seriously wary about watching a show by these guys. They have shown serious contempt for their audience in the past.
What's so sad for me is how the ending just completely ruins the whole show. Someone asked me today if they should watch it, if it was any good. I said it's absolutely superb, but there is no point watching it because the biggest draw to the show, all the mysteries, are not resolved and the ending just makes the whole thing seem pointless. The ending just ruins what is otherwise a pretty awesome experience.

Oh for God's sake. Did you not read the post directly above yours? Once Upon A Time was NOT created by the MAKERS of Lost. Once Upon A Time is being done by a couple of guys who were lowly members of Lost's writing staff. They worked mostly on the Hurley episodes. They are entitled to neither credit nor blame for the overall creative direction of Lost. Those decisions were made far above their level of responsibility.

This is why Flashforward failed. It wasn't the worst show ever but it was billed as the next Lost/from the creators of Lost. It was always going to fail.

I see this got fantastic ratings in the US on Sunday so I guess that will persuade someone in the UK to buy it.
