I haved noticed that everytime a hour special of emmerdale is on it is always a tuesday and i wonder why is it because itv know that the beeb will not be able to move Eastenders from the 7:30 slot that way Emmerdale wins in the ratings and itv look good and now rumour has it from january corrie's monday and friday episode will be 45 mins long another atempt to pull ee down I bet if the BBC put ee up against corrie one night ITV would move it right away as they cannot bare to be beaten.

Yet again you let your anti-corrie mask slip and yet again you contradict yourself in the one sentence with a contradictory post.

No because if EE was up against Corrie EE would win support for the show is high even if people can't see it.
however all the BBC will do once the 45 mins eps of corrie come in is move EE to a different slot but ITV are so thick they have not tought of that.

and alan I have not had a go of such at corrie more at ITV for not caring about the viewers

Who in their right mind would choose Eastenders over Emmerdale anyway?

A lot of soap fans watch both shows, and usually an hour long Edale has a big story, thats how it wins. If one soap is just normal run of the mill stuff, you'll catch it on Sunday and watch the soap that has the big storyline that it has been given an hour long special, duh!

Another bloody thread!!!

Well EE has been just as sneaky! I recall them overunning while Karl and Todd was kissing so many missed it!

EE have done it before, I remember as I remember complaining about it. So the BBC are not entirely innocent. It was the BBC that moved EE and not ITV moving Corrie so they can be just as pathetic.

Also, if EE has far the greater support, why when they introduced the Friday episode did they not put it on at 7.30 to go against Corrie?

Erm, yes they can. They could quite easily put EE on at 8, then Holby from 8.30 to 9.30. And on Thursday it's even easier for them to move timeslots..

I don't really like it when soaps are on at the same time although I couldn't care less about missing EE now so it doesn't bother me when Emmerdale is against it. And to be fair, ITV are putting fewer one-hour episodes of it against EE now, only when it's a "special" episode. In the last 2 or three years they've often just had two ordinary episodes back to back, but ever since they beat EE back in May they have only done it with an important episode. The producers gave the impression themselves that they would only put special episodes against EE from now on..

Is any of this actually true?

EE would beat Corrie - and you know that how?
45 minute episodes of Corrie - true or rumour?
BBC would move EE to a new slot - and you know that how?

If BBC moved EE, ITV would not be thick, they would have achieved what they probably wanted.

Also I don't think ITV are playing dirty tricks putting Emmerdale against EE. ITV get low ratings at 7.30 on nights EE is on. This way they get higher ratings leading into 8pm. It's a competitive market so if ITV can tempt away viewers from BBC they will try it. People have videos these days so if they really want to see EE they will tape it so it is not as if soap fans are really missing out. If they want to see both, they still can.

No. As I recall the BBC was put on a Wednesday or something like that because of the football, hence going head to head with Corrie and actually losing (if I remember correctly). So they are doing it in face of not losing. BBC care! Are u joking? I don't watch Neighbours but if the BBC cared they would not move that around for sports!

Does no one remember when EE went head to head with Corrie at 8pm about 3 years ago?? I think they were forced into it for some reason (some sport event maybe), and they both started at the same time so no one had a big unfair advantage.
Anyway, it was when EE was on fire and really good and Corrie was in a bit of a slump I THINK. Everyone was expecting EE to destroy Corrie and although they did win, it wasn't by a huge amount so no one made a fuss. In fact I'm quite sure Corrie bosses were secretly relieved and EE a tiny bit disappointed.

So who knows what would happen now the roles are kind of reversed.

Exactly! they knew Todd and Karl's kiss was that night and yet they overplayed an episode of EastEnders that was utter tripe! Serving up their own feeble attempt at somewhat half gripping gay storyline involving dull Derek. I'll never forgive them for that as naturally I didn't watch the clock, I thought EE would be finished in time for the big moment lol bastards!

The BBC do exactly the same thing.

You have to ask yourself why people aren't switching off Emmerdale to switch onto Eastenders. If people aren't switching off Emmerdale to watch Eastenders, what on earth makes you think they would switch off Coronation Street to watch Eastenders?

And why can't the BBC move Eastenders from the 7.30 spot? They do it quickly enough when there's football on.

It's called healthy competition, dear. Learn to live with it.
