Why are Eastenders actors so arrogant and full of themselves?
I was reading a magazine the other day (can't remember what) and there was a quote from Shane Ritchie in the Soaps section which said something like "I know loads of actors from Corrie and Emmerdale and they all say that they would love to be in Eastenders because it is internationally recognised throughut Europe and America". What he is basically saying is that EE is better because it is shown throughout the world and Emmerdale and Corrie arn't. Which is drivel of course and as if these actors would say that. The only reason EE is shown in more countries is because of BBC America and BBC world. Not because it is better.
Its not the fist time Shane has dissed the other soaps. He was on This Morning last year, sat in on the soap gossip section and booed the other soaps when they were talking about them. Then there is the weedy gimp who plays Spencer on TRL saying that EE is better than other soaps, especially Coronation Street. What an unproffesional bunch of planks they are. |

They aren't exactly the cream of British acting, are they? Once they leave the soap, none of them will ever be heard of again. What have they got to be arrogant about?

They know they are mediocre actors who struck unbelievably lucky - so they feel the need to sound smug - to hide the paranoia within..

well I think you're being a bit sweeping... I saw Chrissie and Kate on This Morning or GMTV saying about how everyone was trying to stay optimistic and how they worked double hard with their Haircut Revenge stuff. It seemed a bit humble, really.
Shane Richie is a walking ego: did anyone see him on Room 101? It was cringworthy, like David Brent but not fictional... he was trying to be funny the whole time, and the audience weren't receptive at all, Paul Merton bought all the laughs. Richie just tries so hard, too hard, and he's embarassing. He needs to remember that it is Alfie people like[d], and it is Alfie who wins the awards. Shane Richie thinks he's the messiah off Alfie's back. Also, I think honing your comedy skills in front of a Pontins or Butlins crowd may account for why he's so plain and simply crap. I mean Kirsty Young the week before, a straightforward newsreader, had me in fits of laughter. I had to mute it when Richie went off on his little act, because my toes couldn't quite curl far enough. |

Shane Ritchie should remember that until Alfie Mo(r)on was created he was a laughing stock in Britain. He still is by most people but obviously the Tv Tweenie awards have gone to his head.

When I went to New York when I was a nipper they showed EE late at night, so it isn't exactly popular over there (although my aunt does watch it and used to call us for the gossip). And I don't think this was on the BBC. I think it got axed though, I will find out! Was nice going over there and watching the old eps, I think it was a year behind, not 4 years.

Shane Richie on Room 101 - Mon 20/9.
Was watching ITV at the time and in the adverts was flicking over to BBC2. Absolutely cringeworthy - Shane was so full of himself and loved to hear the sound of his own voice. Had to switch back over - even the ads were more interesting!!! |

Agree - he was really, really embarrassing. People who try to be funny and the life and soul of the party generally aren't, and he definitely fell into that category.

In an interview carried on these boards Shane Ritchie actually said that the majority of the Corrie cast wished they were on EE
Yes sure they do Shane - keep taking the tablets |

And one thing the EE actors forget is that EE in BBC America has been axed this year and now they (the Americans) have to pay for each episode to watch it!
