Hi,

I have a Canon ISUX 500, which I bought from amazon.co.uk.

I wanted to know does it matter what brand Memory card you buy?
If so, which is a good brand?
Can anyone direct me to a good site where I can buy them from?

Thanks

You can get memory cards from Amazon.

Also, we bought a 128mb SD memory card from PC World for about £32. It works fine. It's branded as Impact. We don't buy on the strength of the brand as we would expect the card to work perfectly whatever the make, and if there had been a problem, we would have taken it back under the guarantee. If there had been a problem, we wouldn't have said "Oh well, it wasn't branded so we will have to put up with it".

It uses compact flash right????

Why they continue to ship DCs with tiny cards amazes me.

PC World is a great place to get ripped off! You can buy 128Mb for £12.99 or 256Mb costs £17.99 from here:

Yeah, I know PC World can be a rip-off, but we needed the card that day and that wasn't a bad price. Many local photography shops are more expensive. Also, I think that price compared well with Amazon.

I don't know. But I don't think they are compatible. When I wrote my earlier post, I didn't know what kind of memory cards your camera uses. Ours is a Dimage camera, and Konica Minolta have decided to go down the SD route, although, if we had the next one up the range, the Dimage X50, that will take both SD and Memory Stick in different slots.

Diffrent size really. CF is quite big, whilst SD is very small. CF cards tend to have much higher memory capacities, 8Gb is the largest ive seen so far! CF only gets to 1Gb. You can have a look at the website I posted to see some examples if you like.

As the title suggests........

The high street 'majors' are a good place to pay 200 - 300% markup on memory cards, batteries etc etc

Got a 512mb MMC for my shiny (well was before i dropped it) new 6230 for about £40 ish from www.mx2.org - came in 3 days

Saw same thing in PC W*** for £100...
