The Apprentice: Coffin Dodgers

Thought this would be a fun thread before we start our journey with a new series of Junior Apprentice.

'Apprentice' Nick Hewer wants OAP version

What do you think? I'm not sure an entire show would be necessary but I don't see any reason why there can't be a few older people in the regular series? I think it'd add an interesting dynamic to the show.

note: bonus points to the person who 'gets' the title!

I'd worry Nick's vision might be too sensible. I also think Team Ventures over sixties mag may have struck quite a nerve he needs to let it go

I can't see a group of grown ups as it were providing so much entertainment, it's the young dumb element with over inflated ego's that make the show. That said, old v young is working quite well so far on the Irish Apprentice, and when it's an investment rather than a job I can see a more mature set of candidates applying.

As long as there's a mix rather than all being Hip Replacements, I'd watch

I think, between Lord Sugar, Nick Hewer and previously Margaret, wrinklies tend to come out of the show more unanimously well-represented than any other demographic. The savvy, eagle-eyed elder statesmen. That's a pretty good innings.

Keeping in mind that they're applying for a relatively junior position, I think the candidates' ages have been generally appropriate for the roles in each series. Nice spread between 21 and... ooh, 36, is it? Old enough to have a bit of nouse, young enough to make lots of mistakes. Last series the youngest male candidate was 25 - not particularly old, but that is way off foetal as a lower bound.

(And Coffin Dodgers was Zoe's suggestion for the title of an OAP-mag... bring on the points!)

It would be funny seeing siralun patronise and shout at a 55 year old battleaxe from Blackpool. I'd like to see older contestants and now the prize has changed , it makes more sense as it's obvious he isn't looking for an apprentice anymore.

If you've read Sugar's latest book, "The Way I See It," he does hint that a version of the show for people who've been victims of the recession might be a goer.

I think there would be too many people in an "oldies" apprentice who would recognise Loralun's bluster and BS for what it is, and call him on it.
